Playing drums is a perfect addition for string instrument players. Even with rudimentary skills in my experience it changes the way I play the strings for the better. I.e. more care for the rhythm accuracy. I once borrowed a set for a few weeks and this little time changed a lot in my overall instrument playing permanently ... I have the MPD218 pads at home nowadays, mainly to save space in the room, but still better than nothing. But definitely would love to have an edrum set in future at some point again. Drums are fun. A fellow musician that I made midi-based electronic music with had DrumKAT pads, which were quite the shit, if I remember it right. Thought they reacted in a pretty impressive way, he was a quite good jazz drummer, maybe it was just his skills but some stuff felt really realistic.
