Hi, sentientsound . Good question. I just sold that pair of Chandlers two weeks ago. In my build, I’ve landed on Heritage Audio EQ73 Jr’s and Rupert Neve Designs 551’s. In my tests, those seem to play well together. Hope that adds something to your search for answers. I hate to give the standard answer, “Try them and see if they’re your thing,” because that’s frustrating, I know. Overall, I just felt I was getting more of a fluid “console sound” by sticking with that classic 1970’s Neve [as presented by Heritage] and modern Rupert Neve sound. It really is the sound in my head for a variety of styles. Economics and simplification both have played into my trimming down and getting more “focussed” these past 2-3 years. Hi Chad --- have you tried the eq73 jr on bass? I thought it was fabulous. I have, and I really like it on kick, too.

I have, and I really like it on kick, too. The Heritage EQ73 is awesome on anything I have put through it!! Thank you! It seems to be sort of a sleeper. I really like the 500 series 1073/500 by Heritage, but it took 3 500 series spaces for one channel! And frankly, I liked the eq better than the pre part of it. So the eq73 with one space, was ideal.

Thanks Chad - yea unfortunately the dealer here doesn't have stock to try. Interesting to note though that you enjoy the Heritage EQ Jr more. Those are definitely more versatile and have the output trim for around the same price. Do you find they have a notieacble tone when set flat?

When boost is set to flat and the bands are each “on”, they remind me of going through extra iron, plus you get the added benefit of input and output transformers as well.
