damnit it. tried the ssl channel e and i gotta admit.ä: it sounds very very good!
than i tried spl iron and again it sounds very very good. especially on drumbus. very very flexible. but than i a/b it with my klanghelm mjiuc and i could get similar results. so i might skip the iron ...
but that ssl channel is ... well ... veryvery good indeed. damn "stayhomestaysafeheresmypluginstotryoutforfree!"

I like pretty much all of their channel strips. "Consoles" whatever they call them. They are standout plugins IMO.

The consoles are all awesome. Wish the cpu was powerful enough to use the Focusrite and/or Lindell 80 on everything at 88/96. I end up using the N and SSL E on most tracks. 80 and Focusrite on whatever the cpu can handle. I've been preferring the Masterdesk at the end of the pre-master aux over Shadow Hills A and Iron lately, though the latter two are both outstanding. Try the Purple MC77 on vocals with the default settings but the input set for 10-20db GR and output dialed to compensate. I think I'm gonna get that as the DSM V3 while cool, is still very unintuitive to me.

Gonna have to check these out again. The strips were totally killer except for the compressors and I want to play with the SPL plugs!

The strips were totally killer except for the compressors and I want to play with the SPL plugs! a/bing brainworx and waves extensively right now. the comp on the bx seems ok to me when remaining at maximum 3db GR and its a nice touch beeing able to change to the g channel comp within the e channel. but ... its almost to much glue for me right now. the bx sounds more warm but adds almost to much glue when having across multiple tracks. i

I've got the Focusrite strip, which I basically use as an EQ plug-in cause I like big knobs (not that there's anything wrong with that.) I prefer Waves CLA MixHub as a channel strip, largely due to the dynamics and line amp modeling. The SSL channel dynamics are good, as is the built-in bluey option, and I actually bought CLA-3A and API 2500 just to use as MixHub inserts.

The Focusrite channel strip is pretty special on electric guitar tracks IMO.

could resist - almost - only bought the SSL E channel :-) the highs and THD are the main point that sold me. waves sound a bit harsher but also tighter in the low end. so i will have the option to choose between waves ssl e channel for bass, kick and bx ssl e channel for when in need of smoother highs. i am discovering only now that mixing with the ssl e channel really speeds up my mixing: it's great to have it all in one plugin: eq, comp, gate, saturation ... up 'til now i used several plugins and ended up using lots of plugins doing tiny bits on a track and it took me more time.
i tested the spl iron compressor extensively, too but came to the conclusion that i still like what the waves ssl g comp does on the mixbus a lot! plus i have the drawmer 1978 so i am covered for mixbus comps. though i liked what the spl iron does ...
