Try contacting Jext Telez/Analog Anonymous on instagram. He posted a picture of a box full of them recently. Probably for more Acme DI’s.

Everyone has been scooping them up for DI boxes.... :/ I’m guilty of that! I found one on eBay a while back and had it put it in a DI. I also have an A9J that I’ve been planning to use for a DIY tube pre. I’m curious to see what you think about the results of yours. Also I think Sowter make an A11J copy of some sort. It’s listed on their website.

Mixer with its tiny side car I'm interested to know what sort of gigs you envision using this on. I realize it could be anything, but I bet you have some use cases in your mind's eye.

I record jazz mostly, and usually shows without a PA. I've done bigger places with sends from the FOH, but its complicates things with my old set up. Sometimes I can get a send if there is a vocal and that works well. But now with 4 extra inputs I'm hoping to use a mic transformer distribution box so I can get some feeds directly off the mics and the FOH can have their feed too, then I can use my own mics on stage too.

I saw the cinemags on Instagram. I would love to know how they compare to the UTC and Triads when you try it out.

I saw the cinemags on Instagram. I would love to know how they compare to the UTC and Triads when you try it out. Well, these ones are just on the passive line inputs to get the impedance to match with the summing network, but in general I like these big ones a lot. I used the CMMI 10c’s on my Delta 4-7 preamps and shot out a lot of different ones, they sound really great to me with that particular circuit. I love the triads and I do have some peerless for another mixer, those are some of my all time favorites. Haven’t had much experience with the UTC A11’s except in the main mixer but I love the way that thing sounds. Very interested in how the side car preamps compare with only have the triads be the difference.

I love this mixer. Usually just use the main 4 channel mixer for 3 or 4 piece bands, but sometimes bigger set ups. This was the biggest yet, plugged the original Ampex into a pair of line inputs and used the side car to give a total of 12 inputs! 22 transformers and 25 tubes.

I love my MX-10....to me way more impressive than the Altec tube mixer or others.
Looks great! There’s gear and then there is GEAR. Setting the bar high with this design! Keep it coming.

That's interesting to hear. I always wanted to make some 1567 type pres, but I might agree with you here. I just love the EF86s.... The pres in this mixer are very similar to the Ampex ones but with a pentode/triode switch. The Ampex is triode but I always run these mixers in pentode.

What a groovy set up. I can imagine that mixer paired with a Nagra is lovely.
