I need a refresher for proper use. I assume the following:
1) remove knob/cap from shaft
2) apply deoxit to shaft where it meets the body of the pot
3) allow deoxit to work it's way down the shaft, into the pot
4) manually work the pot shaft back & forth to distribute the cleaner into the pot, thereby cleaning the contacts and removing oxidation/gunk/etc..
Is this correct procedure? Any other tips?

That's not going to get enough into the pots to clean, only to lube. Gotta get to the backs of the pots and blast them from the openings if you really want to gets then cleaned.

So then, most pots have openings at the rear?

What are sprays are people using to clean pots? I haven't found one that doesn't remove the grease. Any recommendations would be appreciated. (we have limited selection over here)

Use a fader lube after the cleaning if you feel like it's removing the grease.
