Echorec was an oil drum echo, not a tape echo. But still, I am enchanted by these things because of Syd Barrett. I guess I ought to demo. It's not an oil drum. It's a magnetic metal disk. Much more similar to tape. The Tel-ray/Morley Echo-ver-brato was using a oil can that stores signals electrostatically. Interesting effect, but not even close to the same sound. Yep. I was going to say the same thing. I think the Echorec used something very similar to early wire recorders but embedded in a rigid metal disk so it wouldnt break and warp/wow and flutter.
