Since we all seem to be in a "quitting XYZ plugin's" syndrome.......... I'm done with WAVES. DONE! So sick of their renewal fees. I end up buying a bunch of their plugs "on sale" for crazy low prices (like $29). -- then I never really end up using them. Then, when rebuilding my latest computer and upgrading this week, I get hit with a TON of upgrade fees. Just not worth it. No matter if they are really cheap upon buying. They get you later. The only plug I'll really miss is Abbey Road Chambers. That is a really nice plugin. I guess I'll manage with my Bricasti. LOL. . Done... With.... Waves... Somebody smack me if I mention buying another WAVES license. I feel the same way and have been considering the same

you can run the old 9.x versions and 10 side by side but you have to use the offline installer. I have the current waves central just for one newer plugin and then the latest v9 offline installer for all of the v9 plugs I had up to that point. It was a pain but not super difficult to manage the two versions once I figured out the v9 v10 difference and this is simply due to not wanting to pay to upgrade the plugins from 9 to 10 because the plugins themselves have not been upgraded so far as I know. the wups push is downright deceitful and so confusing that its' not even worth bothering with - especially when you see the price they are asking. STill Waves has managed to trick a lot of people into paying for their update plan by making everything so unclear to begin with. I won't be buying any more Waves for this reason but I am happy with ones I have they are very good and useful plugins.

Has it even been out long enough for your WUP to have expired on it? I’m probably just losing track of time but hasn’t it only been out a year or so? Also you could buy it back for $29 when it goes on sale and get a few more years out of it. Yup. Wupped. Out a year and a half or so. I don't really want to get back into bed with waves over AR Chambers. I have lots of other great stuff I can use including the Bricasti.
If Waves had a subscription plan for a bigger bundle, which had the SSL bundle included, they still would have a happy customer.
The case now is:
They did not make a single cent from me for seven years, and they lost me forever.
This is the definition of stupid for me.

The only real weak link is saturation plugs and reverbs/ambiences. Take a look at Wavesfactory Spectre. I think they did an awesome job with it for shaping and adding color and saturation. I was going to buy Fab Filter Saturn, but got this instead and am happy I did. I also us decapitator, but this Spectre is more flexible.

I have some older Waves 9.2 (on a 10.10.5 OS) , What's the last OS Waves 9 will work on ?

Yeah, it seems like the people having problems are with Apple's OS, not Windows. I've gone from Windows 7-10 paying no WUP with no problem. I wonder how long that's gonna last.

I got suckered into the Waves specials for a while. Like Dr B, I'm cutting the cable on this. I need to pick up 1-2 things and with these, the softube plugs that I own and the SSL native, I will bebuckling in and casting off plugin indecision and not giving anymore cash to Waves or Slate. That's the plan for the next 2 records - same artist.

Where you don’t find out what the tax is before the update is done. very strange way to do business if you ask me. Waves is aware well in advance of OS or Daw upgrades no doubt. Could give a warning of what plugins you’re about to lose. But to my knowledge they don’t. So, never again. Cheers, Geoff
