$699 is a lot for what that does, at least of what I've seen so far, but I'll reserve judgement until I hear what sort of integration it will have with Apollo Console.

Ya, seems a little high, . but it does include 2 console plug emulations?
But you’ll have the 2 consoles at $12-1300 usd plus the other emulations ( API, neve?), so flirting with 2 grand, give or take?
I had a faderport 8 and 16 and the original Console mkii and w liked them but sold them all too

At that price, I'm likely not interested, regardless.

Agreed, I found the controller efficiency thing a bit of an illusion, if you like it, great, but you do have to learn the controller and interact with it or just click/ move something in your daw?

I havent sold my console 1 as yet, and will probably keep it.
I have bought many fader/contro surfaces and have ended up selling them all..... Presonus,Frontier, Behringer.... I end up not using all the faders to write automation and get sick of them being in front of me on my desk.
I have been using my iPad with logic to do fader rides, which I usually only do two faders at a time at most....
cheers

Todd, the sort of Softtube/Ua guy, confirmed at ua forum today that ya and softube are working on a major release and Drew seems to have indicated he has already seen the console fader controlling faders in UA console gui.
At least, they seem to be doing the right thing, wonder if new release will come before Christmas, that would sure boost sales.
I just open up logic automation lane in region and do everything manually, while looping section: works great and you know exactly how it sounds!

I start at the beginning of the song.... loop each section, verse , chorus etc and run the section over and over till i have it right, using the iPad, hitting Ctrl Z if I screw a pass.. .then save and move till the next section... works great. Yes, but this is automatable and 100 m alps motorized faders, so giving a digital, recallable experience and 2 console emulations, so also good value?

I assume it will have the new X converters but I wonder if there will be any other changes. As for the Softube Fader, it seems like it would be cool if I wasn’t a Pro Tools user. For Pro Tools you would have a mix within a mix, which for me is a workflow nightmare. All of Softube’s stuff sound phenomenal though and I’m sure these new console emulations do too.

Still love my Console 2. But already have a Fader solution via Mackie MCU Pro, so prob not so interested (for now).
However, I think this product will be successful. The tangible hands-on fader is something so trivial, yet so overlooked in the days of DAW.

Does the Fader have higher resolution that the faders in a DAW? Perhaps it's a bit more fun just reaching for a fader than using a mouse, but is that really worth $700?

I can see the workflow giving you faster operation with this. It's not just volume that's controlled on the faders. A quick button to change the parameters and you can control input gain, drives, hi/lo pass filtering, returns, etc. Once you learn the layout it should be faster than a keyboard and mouse.
But it's all tied to Softtube and I have invested in lots of other plugin options. So the money invested in a Console One setup isn't really giving me control over my whole ITB engineering. If you invest in an analog console I can see you being all in with that single setup, but for ITB?

I think the concept is tempting but I too want to have control over third party plug ins too. I rejected on my Slate MTI idea and came back to the iPad which is still the best solution to get half decent hands on feel.

Which DAW do you mostly use? I hear Studio One is very multi-touch friendly. My DAW, Logic, isn't so much. I'd guess Cubase would work well on iPad too, but I don't own an iPad. I am really looking at this Softtube option, but I want to learn more. Don't have the funds right now.

A faderport 16 can be mapped to 3rd party plug ins, has motorized faders and is automatable, a little more new but about the same used and has more features.

I was thinking a faderport 8 to go with my C1... but maybe this instead. Hmmmmm. Will have to look into that.

I use logic too and I use the app DAW control which simulates a Mackie controller...works very very good.
