Been a longtime fan. Seen Sturgill several times. The mix is bugging the shit out of my ears, but damnit, this is a man making something he feels. I thought Turtles was a curveball, and at first glance thought this was a Nashville grab, but I think in longform it's authentic. He doesn't bullshit much. Pre-ordered with vigor.

Not a fan. Look for it to appear in any and every TV thing to signify they're cool. It's certainly well done - I just don't particularly like it.

Watched the release on Netflix. It's interesting. At minimum a bold move and pretty well executed if he's trying to really just scramble the system.

I'm know NOTHING about the Nashville scene or the people in it outside of what I read on these forums. Don't know who the singer is. The guy has a great voice, but for me personally, it almost sounds like the entire vocal performance is auto-tuned too perfectly, or even too sharp. Maybe that's where the his intonation naturally sits when he sings (on top of the pitch), but it's cutting a lot of the soul out it for me.

I was blown away by his first album. Instant fan. But, have felt less strongly about each subsequent one. This one will be the first I don't buy. As Sturgill says, "Some days you kill it... Some days you choke..."
