Anyone checked it out yet? I've been playing with the Ampeg and Shadow Hills and dig both so far. This Ampeg really sounds alive. Anyone else?

I'm looking at both of those. I can get a "dynamic discount" and use a bunch of codes to get a pretty great deal... thinking about it.

I don't have UAD, but I can tell you it blows away the IK Ampeg SVT. Also, I'm not sure how close it is to the actual amp. I'm cranking the bass WAY down on the emu, but getting that familiar sound. If you wanna hear a punk track in the works, shoot me a DM.

I see a reason why many RGO users stop discussing new plug ins. The offers are overwhelming and the plugs too often do not sound like the real deal.
I decided to stop wasting live time for checking out plug ins.

Balls in this context meaning bad or balls meaning crazy?

Balls in this context meaning bad or balls meaning crazy? Good balls. As in, "It's the balls".

I'll do that back for you in your next "hardware is better" thread.

I love the UAD version. I'm guessing they are pretty darn similar.
BTW...I would always 100% assume a descriptor of balls would mean it's bad. Food for thought.

I love the UAD version. I'm guessing they are pretty darn similar. If you're talking about UA stuff that Brainworx developed (like the SHMC) it's the exact same plug, just native.

Someone nulled them on the first day. There was a video linked on one of the threads. I'll see if I can find it. Where has Bx said it's not the same?

Where has Bx said it's not the same? Guess, mostly the same... Hi Ben, Brainworx Audio Plugins only added External Sidechain, adjustable Internal Sidechain Filters and onboard parallel Mix (Dry/Wet) capabilities.

Hi Ben, Brainworx Audio Plugins only added External Sidechain, adjustable Internal Sidechain Filters and onboard parallel Mix (Dry/Wet) capabilities. Ok yeah, that makes sense. That's in their plugin shell anyway so they didn't have to get under the hood and mess with the algorithm. The SHMC plug gets spanked so hard by the hardware but I friggin' loved it when I had it on UAD. If PA ever has sales again and it goes on sale, I'll get it.

I’ve already written a lot on this at GS, but I think the MC77 might be the first native thing I’d feel ok using in place of the UAD 1176 in the event I have problems with this satellite. The Focusrite console was cool, but I just stopped using it once I saw the price. Chose to focus on getting more out of the BX SSL E I paid $100 something for that I coulda bought for $25 earlier this year. Up til now I had been pretty conservative with how I used it. Now I’m toying with presets, using eq pre-dynamics, brown eq, just experimenting a lot.
Plugin companies for whatever reason don’t like to pre-announce stuff. Maybe they’re worried that Waves will steal the concept and launch a competing product like they did after Waverider came out. If there was a definite release schedule, I would look at subscriptions more favorably.
My goal is to not buy stuff. After the UAD stuff I got, I barely got any native this year. VSE-2 and Sonnox Dynamics on sale, $25 transfer fee for Duende Bus Comp in a trade, and a few of those Brainworx plugins for free or close to it. Think it was BX Digital V3, BX XL 2, Cleansweep Pro, and maybe one more. I’d tried all this stuff before, so the VSE was the only one I had to learn.
Shadow Hills was something I considered with UAD. I think it holds up well compared to their top compressors. I’d get either version if they were $50 or less. But the Sknote SDC was about in the same league, just a little different sounding. I’m really just interested in emulations of classic gear at this point. Mainly FX stuff. Like if UAD did a real Quantec room simulator.

Can people sell their Plugin Alliance licenses?
If they aren't going to have the rolling sales anymore I might as well look at that route in the future, as I'd rather own them myself. I'm interested in the SPL Twin Tube, but it wasn't a high priority for me so I haven't gotten it yet. Tried the trial recently and it's fairly versatile in what you can apply it on, but I thought it helped get some nice depth on vocal tracks.
