It looks like it's a great time to be in the market for a U47 clone! The intro price of $1,530 USD might be hard to pass up. I got to hear a Tribute 1 late last year and was really impressed by Ben's K7 capsule. beesneezmics.com/microphone-ranges/clone-series/u47-clone-bu47.htmlThe new swivel mounts are beautifully made, I got to see one in person on the Mahalia mic.

I'll bet this is hard to beat for the price. The additional benefit in the U.S. of the strength of the USD against the Aussie dollar means you get so much more for your money. I put one of Ben's K7 capsule in a Miktek CV4 after a discussion with another member here who did the same and I'm very impressed with the capsule, as the mic went from going to sell it before the switch, to now keeping it as my favorite after the K7 install.

I just acquired a used Beesneez BC12, which is the C12 in this Beesneez affordable clone series. I haven't had a chance to fully run it through its paces but my initial impressions are very favorable. If this 47 is a similar caliber mic it should be awesome.

The price is extremely reasonable. I'm wondering what he did with the circuit; tube type etc. It looks like he winds his own BV08 type transformer and I can personally recommend his K7 capsule. That leaves just the tube type in question. I have a feeling it would sound similar to the CV4 with the K7 capsule. It's a good sound. Not quite the same as the vintage U48 I used for a while, but very much in the ballpark. I wish I had some extra money to try out mics that I am curious about. I don't think Ben does a "try before you buy" thing. That might be finacial suicide considering how far from the US he is.

I don't have any experience with that tube, but some googling revealed that it is a subminiature tube similar to a 5840, and is used in the M-Audio Sputnik and a few Groove Tubes products.

If anyone is interested I’m selling an Oliver multipattern quite cheap in classifieds. Kinda 47esque.

Gut shots Interesting. He's doing a cathode bias setup. Not typical 47 topology. Probably the best way to go using that sub-miniature tube tho...
