From what I understand in regards to Media Players, they all handle the audio differently, which is why a file will sound different in diff Media Players. I recall developers discussing this to great length and mentioned that JRiver Media Player handled rendering/playing the file the best; along with ASIO drivers.

Ooo... I thought the offer was over... download now in progress. Now I get to update the UVI Workstation too. Thanks for the heads up, Martin. Seems like it is over now. I can't find a download link only a $199 price. Am I missing something? That threw me off too. As John said, enter the code at the top of the page in the "voucher" box @ UVI.net, I think it was.

If you want to use a .dll as a standalone App, download the free "Savihost" from Hermann Seib. Rename Savihost to the name of the .dll, but leave the extension (.exe) in place on Savihost... no VST host required.

The only thing I had left was talk radio. Now the local station apparently sold out to K-love Contemp. Christian "network". So, that makes 3 places on the dial that K-love has taken over. I do listen to Contemp. Christian, but I don't want it all to sound the same; which it does now. So I can listen to 1 song and turn it off, cause the next song is going to have the same feel. The Corporate version of Christian music has and I suspect others, has taken over, and that's just sad.... Long Live Indie!

That sounds great! That gives me so many "video visions". That should be a fun project to do. Look forward to hearing/seeing the finished version.

I guess you could leave it connected to a patch bay which has case mounted jacks, on the 1/4" side of things.

The TRS jacks are not case mounted? That's a very good question... I'll have to study that when I get high resolution photos from Joshua. Unless he wishes to weigh in first. I guess I should have rephrased that, according to the eBay link (if that's the same unit): "Why are the TRS jacks not case mounted".

Several people are reporting using cheaper drives and making several (2 or more) backups. I try to save space and get the WD-BlackEnt. Maybe either would work. I do avoid the Seagates for several years now, though they and the Maxtor used to be good. I also used the regular black, both 32 & 64 MB cahche, without a problem.

... they were simply Hitachi drives in the past, but the reviewer was forced to brand them as HGST by WD.

The HGST is a WD consumer type disk. That chart shows some of the HGST as actually being before the HGST branding (if you read the fine print). Warranty says something about a manufacturers confidence. The HGST's on that page are 1-3 yrs warranty. The aforementioned WD Black Enterprise is 5 years... it can be a pig-in-a-poke from different resellers, it seems.

If you want to get rid of the Win10 nag screen in Win7-8.1, go into Windows Update, choose "Installed Updates", search for Windows Update KB3035583, right click, deinstall. This is the update that phones home, contains the downloader for Win10 etc... Then search manually for updates after the uninstall, it will be found again for install. Exclude it from future updates. Done. Ahhh, that's great. I've got the "GWX ConfigManager" blocked from the network and it hasn't poked it's nose out anymore. I'll get that bugger at the root, now!

I've heard how much better Cubase 8 Pro is and understood Win7 is one of the requirements. I may be tempted to go that way at some point, but I'll have to get over being miffed at Yamaberg first. They dropped support for XP and Vista with the UR824 a couple of Firmware revisions ago. I've only today gotten confirmation from them (after a previous failed attempt) that in order to test the DSP Guitar Amp Classics, I'd have to give up XP & Vista, whereas I can't degrade the firmware (why?) if I don't like the modelling. And my wife's UR22 has a problem with some Condenser mics. She uses a Dynamic, but it's the principle of the thing. They won't do a free repair unless we give a Condenser brand and model #, even though the serial # is confirmed to be one of the affected units. I tell you, it's felt too much like a Steinberg circus around here, of late. So they are on "the list", for now.

Yeah, the offer was "reserve" a free upgrade. I think I've got the "GWX" process permanently shut down without deleting files. Those seem to be decent prices at pro-tools-pc.com/. I'll keep my eye out for the upcoming dual Xeon version.... well I'll try to have a look see at the parts they use, to incorporate in my own future build. That looks to be a gem for video work.

It'll be interesting. I just ordered a 6 core Pro Tools PC with two system drives, one to stay at 8.1 and one I'll upgrade to 10. pro-tools-pc.comThat would be a better idea - installing 10 on a dedicated drive, but M$ has been pestering "us" for two days to trade in 7 for 10.

I would imagine from one side of the room to the other is fine. If I remember correctly, in a live situation, 100 ft. from instrument to Amp is max.

I've recently changed my intended design from 4 ft. square to 4'x4'x8' and install the 15" speaker to be mic-ed and putting a simulated room mic at ceiling level. Still researching though...

On a somewhat related note, I find the push for Yosemite, Mavericks or whatever else is Apple's latest OS upgrade to be EQUALLY annoying. I'm still running Snow Leopard on my studio Mac Pro towers and it works just peachy. I have no interest in upgrading it despite Apple's CONSTANT attempts to get me to do so. I hang onto stuff to the last thread. Still running boxes with XP 32/64, Vista 32/64, Win7 32/64, and still have a couple or 3 Win '98 SE boxes. I've got a lot invested in soft/hardware on all of those platforms. Shucks, I'm still running Cubase VST 5.1 with XP 32 bit on one machine. I find inspiration in different forms through all of the old stuff here. I've ignored Win 8 totally, because it's incompatible with a lot I've got. Unless some remarkable hardware or software comes along, I'll stop the love affair at Win 7, although Cubase 8 Pro is tempting.

Thanks b1 I found the charms in Windows 8 to be incredibly aggravating. Hopefully they'll nix that idea for future releases. I did a search for the related files to GWX.exe and found over a dozen before explorer crashed... hmmm

Hi Frank,
I purchased some 2" foam (Green/Ugly) to build an Iso-box. I figured on getting some MDF or plywood for an outer enclosure and experimenting with layers, plus a rubber separation on the floor. Since I use a mostly clean tone from a 135 watt Fender amp, I prefer the lower volume so figure a chamber/box would be better in my situation, for the speaker only, to avoid heat in the enclosure.
