I have one. Said it would be 5 weeks, took 8. Worth it though. Best A/D I've heard...just the clock alone makes my avid sound much better. Kills my old Lynx, which is now sold. Cool ! Well like two years ago I ordered the DAC from Ross because Jim Williams recommended it . But , after 3 months and multiple emails about his wife screwing up the orders , switching computers , bla bla bla , his dog ate his home work .......I finally said I just want a refund . All I hear is good stuff about his converters and they are CHEAP ! I think I'll order the A/D converter and hopefully I'll eventually get it .

Does anyone have the Ross Martin PCM4222 A/D Converter ? Did you have to wait a long time for him to build it ? rossmartinaudio.com/

That book is expensive.. But I might give it a try anyway. Wow , it is expensive ! I don't remember what I paid . The things John Kenn and Tony said go right along with the tips in the book . If you can't write a song after reading it , there might be no hope for you A cool tip in the book is if your having problems coming up with a Melody , take the lyrics from a song you like and make up a brand new melody using those lyrics . Then once you have a new Melody , write new lyrics . Then figure out the chords that go with your new Melody and new Lyrics and there you go , you have a song that is not ripping anybody off , you just used the Pro's Song kinda like training wheels .

I got this book and its helped me write some songs . I recommend picking it up . It helps you learn to analyze songs you like and how to emulate them . www.amazon.com/Shortcuts-Hit-Songwriting-Techniques-Writing/dp/0982004001www.robinfrederick.com/hits.htmlTheres 3 ways I write songs . 1.Vocal Melody first - I make up a melody , don't record it , then after a few days if it still comes back to me and I can't seem to forget it , I then record the melody and figure out the chords that go with it . 2. Using a Ghost song - That book I recommended teaches this method . 3.Inspiration - My Hamster died and the turmoil inspired me to write a song - These type of songs which are the best usually , don't happen too often . I was a bass player first , then went to drums , then to guitar and last vocals . I know what your saying about having problems with melody's . I used to be able to have an idea of a melody , but figuring it out was difficult . Then when I started taking singing lessons , your forced to learn scales and your forced to learn to hear every note exactly in your head . Go learn to sing songs you like , like the Beatles . Sing along with their CD , all the way through , then when its done after 40 minutes , keep singing by yourself and see what you come up with .

I think this forum has alot of potential . I've never seen a new forum just start up and be this active/good . Who knows what the future holds , maybe it will become one of the top audio engineer forums online . Once threads start showing up in google searches , it might grow too big and John will join the Dark Side with Jules .

I'm sure she will do an awesome job , but to save money , how about having it open to all the forum members to create a design and then everybody can vote which one they like best ?? I don't know , just an idea .

good stuff scum! I've been practicing scales with the steady volume level thing in mind(saw a vid of Mr Baxter on ytube talking about exactly what you posted), it seems to be helping me, i'm relaxing more, the notes are coming easier and with more tone! Maybe there is hope for me yet? btw, is that a missing link on your ns10? lol! Yeah thats my trusty Missing Link ! I'm short an op amp right now , so when I'm doing drums , I run a VP26 on snare and VP312 on Kick . Then when I track other stuff , like guitar or vocals , I take an op amp out of one of the pres and stick it in the Missing Link , so I have a VP pre and Missing Link chain . I actually have an unopened package from Jeff with a Gar2520 that I need to build , so I wouldn't need to do all that switching crap , but I've just been too damn lazy to build it !! EVERYTHING I know about the voice , I learned from Mark , EVERYTHING . I'm just repeating what he told me in Lessons . Keeping the same volume level is just training your diaphragm how to control your air flow . Its teaching you to have command and full control of your air .

Mark recommends to sing into a device so you can monitor your volume and also into a tuner to monitor your pitch . When you vocalize , the number one thing is to maintain the exact same volume as you go through the exercise . So if your singing a scale , A - B - C# - D - E...E - D - C# - B - A.......all those notes need to be the same volume . And as you go higher , singing that same scale all through out your vocal range , you need to stay at the same volume , from the lowest part of your register to the highest . Your volume can be soft , med , or loud , but you pick what volume level you want to sing at first , then do the exercise . So number one focus when vocalizing is maintaining the same volume and releasing all bad muscle tensions , ( throat , tongue , face , neck ) . Once you can maintain the same volume and you've eliminated all the extra bad muscle tensions , you sing into a tuner to help you monitor your pitch . So this is my setup I use to vocalize . I posted a picture so you can see my setup . I have a Pro Tools Session with all my voice lessons . I just unmute whichever Lesson I wanna do . I sing into a mic that is sent to an AUX track in Pro Tools . On that AUX track I have a digirack trim plugin and that is what I use to monitor my volume . As I go through my exercises , I watch the input level on that trim plugin . I never change the settings , so everyday I know where my voice is at instantly . The tuner has a built in mic , which works "ok" but not that great . Its pretty annoying . So I feed the tuner my mic signal . "After" the trim plug , which I use to monitor my volume , I then have a compressor SLAM my vocal , you don't want any dynamics , you want the tuner to get a solid steady level . Then after the compressor I put another digirack trim plugin and adjust the output level to -18 that I send to the tuner . The tuner gets all messed up and reacts slow it the level feeding it is too loud or too soft . I've found about -18 , is the level it likes and the tuner will react fast and follow you as you sing . I then stick it on a mic stand . So heres a picture so you can see , when I sing in the mic , I can monitor my volume and pitch at the same time . Also its good to record yourself alot and as you play back your recorded vocal track you can watch the tuner to see where you were flat or sharp . Attachments:

Without a boatfull of cash to get paid for it, ITB mixing/tracking can be 'non-inspiring'. For you that do that, I have a couple of questions: 1. Do you ever listen to music after a long day "at the office"? 2. Do you ever take the old lady out for music or dancing, after a long day "at the office"? 3. Do you prefer to come home and bury your head in a pillow? I had a couple of PC's that gave me headaches. Solved that out in the desert with a few 5.56 NATO rounds. Note to self..........never piss off Jim Williams and give him a headache..........

Better hope Bob Filner doesn't sign up. Not much chance considering how few women there are here. Well it looks like mobeach has his shirt off in his avatar . Maybe that will entice Bob to sign up ?

so Scumbum and jrides were both banned recently too??!! what is going on and what did i miss? As far as me , nothing exciting . I was inviting people through PM to check out this forum and someone told on me and so they banned me for a year . But I don't know , after a year I don't think I'll wanna give up my "Banned From GS Club" leather jacket ......... We'll see . This forum is good enough for me . I don't miss GS one bit and I think in a year I still won't . Prodigy and Real Gear is all I care about .

I was bouncing to disk a mix with Pro Tools LE which was recorded 24bit 48K , to a stereo track 24bit 48K to get Mastered , but the Mix didn't sound like the original playback of the PT session Mix . It was not as open , the bass and mids also suffered , like the mix imploded . Bob Olhsson pointed out in this thread , www.thewombforums.com/showthread.php?t=21029&page=4 , ""If you are using a TDM system, you need to swap the dithered mixer into your plug-ins folder or else every single plug-in will be truncated from 56 to 24 bits. If you are using a native or HDX system, you want to put something with 24 bit dither on the output. If you do all of that, the native will sound as good or better."" He was right ! It fixed the problem . I don't understand it , but you can read about it over there .

Except for Tony Belmont , He'd register secretly under the username "adolf hitler" , and that would easily give away his secret identity . I'd be like , "Hey thats Tony !!" and Tony would be like "Damn they figured me out ."

Anyway, i appreciate the fact, that this case is in an open, factual, diverse and no-nonsense discussion. That is the kind of spirit i like. Best regards, Martin Thats it !! Will someone ban smallbutfine , hes crossed the line !!!!!! HA.......just kidding . You do make a very good point . If the GS Mod registers with his real name , maybe his motives are ok , because it would be much easier to hide under another name if he was up to no good .

Right now, because I haven't paid for "Freeforums" (yeah, right) to host the URL, no results for the board are showing up in google. I'm not totally up on all that it takes to do that... You should get in the Google Search . Yeah theres a chance of getting bad members , but also alot of good ones too .

I found this over on the purple site. I really think this could the biggest deal in the world to me in terms of drum capture and mixing. I do use samples of the actual kit. I usually cut all the rolls and flams and place them on a track with the replaced single velocity hits. The only reason I usually do this is to eliminate the bleed. This thing could definitely fix that for me. drumatom.com/Mac release this fall, PC users will have to wait unfortunately. Thats neat , its like a Super "easy to use" Gate . I'm very interested in it .
