Mediafire is another great service to get free space on.
Personally, if I'm going to put pictures up I'll take an extra minute and optimize them through Photoshop via "Save for Web and Device". Seems like it's pretty easy these days to get a great looking high definition jpg at 1920 X 1080 or better that can still only weigh in at less than 500kb of file size.
I think I might be in the minority though and I can certainly understand why; it's so simple to just shoot a pic on your phone and upload it from there that I don't think any extra image processing occurs to a lot of people.

I'll wait and see. But I can't say it's a graveyard I'm real comfortable about whistling past; there's no question we're all participants in a large and fairly unwise experiment. Makes me awfully glad I don't have kids. But who knows? At the same time there's a lot of reasons to be hopeful with the emergence of new energy technology that may very well upend the fossil fuel industry. But for anybody who thinks it isn't possible for human industrial activity to influence the climate I'd suggest you try visiting Beijing, China or Bangalore, India...or for that matter northern New Jersey. Or maybe some of the lumbering operations in the Amazon basin or Madagascar. These days global temperatures are primarily measured by satellite, so UHI is pretty much a planned for variable in the observation of climate data, it doesn't really skew the observations that much. And as for that supposed record high Ice content in the Antarctic; not so much. I think you better bust out your Claratin - but you better not write off the possibility that you have a major sinus infection - not an allergy. www.washingtonpost.com/news/energy-environment/wp/2015/05/15/this-antarctic-ice-shelf-could-collapse-by-2020-nasa-says/www.forbes.com/sites/jamesconca/2014/11/14/does-our-military-know-something-we-dont-about-global-warming/

I've been pretty happy with Blackstar. To my ear it sounds really good for such a low cost amp. I've been using HT Studio 20H head through a Motion Sound SRV-212 rotary cabinet. When you hit the brake and the rotor points straight ahead it really nails that bluesy growl and of course there's nothing like a rotor for chorus/tremolo. The Blackstar also sounds really nice through a Marshall 4x12. If my memory doesn't fail me I think I managed to swing the whole amp & rotary cabinet rig for like $900. Might be just a tad on the high side of the budget but it's certainly worth a listen.

Not really a new thing unfortunately. A few years back there was a DJ on a formerly "classic rock" radio station in the DC area who used to do those edits himself, BADLY. I remember hearing his "improved" version of "Don't Fear (the Reaper)" with the guitar solo removed. Nauseating. Ironically this was the same DJ who introduced Little Feat on the " Waiting for Columbus" album, I never bothered to find out if he managed to chop up that annoying segway between "Dixie Chicken" and "Tripe Face Boogie"
No guitar solo? Bring on the Accordion Solo!!!

I'm kind of surprised that any one team would have enough access to the ball to deflate it prior to a game. Shouldn't the league regulate that sort of thing? I would think it's the responsibility of the officials to be sure that the equipment is up to spec at game time. Might be cheating on the part of the Pats, but the abject negligence of the league can't really be discounted for making it even remotely possible.

What a moment, check out those facial expressions: John and Ringo look like they're enjoying it, Paul looks understandably surprised and maybe a bit stressed out and George looks like he's decidedly annoyed.

I just posted this on GS as well:
I can't think of too many people who were as influential over the arc of their careers than BB King, all the while being as humble, joyful and fundamentally decent as anyone with eyes or ears can know him to be. It's pretty tough seeing him withdraw to hospice care to prepare for the inevitable. I hope everyone who he's managed to touch over the years takes the opportunity to pay their respects via facebook, twitter or whatever while he's still here to read and appreciate them.

No doubt Warren's got some mighty good beans. I can't comment on a K-cup version though- I brewed it in a good ol' fashioned percolator: it's still the best way to get my fix - hey, that was how the coffee that won WWII was brewed, so it's gotta be good enough for me!

Depends on what your definition of the 80's sound might be: it could run the gamut from Motley Crue to King Crimson/Talking Heads - Andy Summers to Frank Zappa or Jerry Garcia to Steve Stevens. It's a pretty large canvas, can you be a little more specific? One tone that sticks out for me is the Boss Heavy Medal Pedal or the Proco Rat through a Roland Jazz Chorus amp; seemed like that sound was everywhere in the '80s.

I'm pretty sure all you need is another USB-eLicenser for the new license. I can't remember how feasible it is to transfer licenses from one dongle to another. I know it's pretty simple with the i-Lok but I don't think it's come up for the eLicenser in my world yet.

^^This^^ can work surprisingly well. I've been using the amp section of a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe as bass head into an old Carvin 18" "W" style bass bin. I mic that about a foot out from one of the ports with an AKG D-12E. Give a really warm tone that kind of reminds me of some of the bass tones John Paul Jones was getting on the earlier Zep albums. Not a particularly modern sound -not a good match for slapping, popping or Funk-Fingers- but very smooth terra-firma.
I still think the Hi-Z input on a Great River NV is one of the best bass DI sounds that I've heard yet.

Wonder if Willes moved to Colorado yet? Willie had a place just outside of Denver in Evergreen (Upper Bear Creek Road, if I remember correctly.) I wonder if he still owns it, I know it was one of the things he was desperately trying to hang onto when the IRS went after him back in the 80's.

You got my vote. Objectively speaking it wasn't a tough choice either, your recording did sound the best by a long shot. I have to think the Dingos are somehow stuffing the ballot-box; for how many votes they're getting, the production values on their recording were...well...let's just say "less than optimum" (in my humble opinion, of course.) Gotta find out what monitors the Rum Runners tune was mixed on - so I know what NOT to get. Good luck!

I think I'm sold on the Wahoo. The tweakability of it reminds me of my first wah pedal the Korg Mr. Multi. It was always the one piece of gear from my high school days I really wish I hadn't lost track of. But hearing the Sonuus I think it might just be time to phase out the old Dunlop.

Radio Shack sells them.... over by the solder. Pretty sure they have different lengths as well. Pretty cheap. Definitely drill and mount if you can. D'oh!!! Not anymore! They can be had at MicroCenter if you have one nearby.

After years of modifying Carvins I came across an Alembic Further that called out to me. Ironically it's the exact same instrument that Alembic still uses as the poster child to demonstrate the buckeye burl wood option on their website. Sounds as amazing as it looks! Still use the Carvins quite a bit too. Nice thing about 'em is that they're wonderful instruments right off the line, and you can modify the bejeezus out of 'em and not feel like you're drawing a mustache on the Mona Lisa.

As I understand it the FX888D is the direct replacement for the 936/907. I would imagine the handle that comes with it -the 8801 - is probably going to be an improvement on the 907 to some extent. So the handle is probably something that you really don't need.. The tips certainly fit the Hakko perfectly, but I have no idea if those tips are actually made by Hakko - I'm not sure if they are OEM or third party, I suppose it's possible that Hakko sub contracts out tip manufacturing and these tips come from the same pacific rim factories that theirs do. I will say that I've had one in my iron now for a couple of months now, so far I've built four GAR2520s and put together one of Dany Bouchard's U87 boards (Need Chunger to catch up with his orders so I can get the boards into a body with the tranny - then I can at least set the bias on the fet - according to Eric the capsule is still going to be a several weeks) At this point I've been really happy with how it's done. I'm not sure that these are going to last quite the same way the Hakko branded tips seem to. No doubt I'll know for sure in a year or so. So far they seem to be holding up very nicely: They seem to heat evenly enough and solder doesn't adhere to it in any unpredictable ways, I haven't noticed any premature wear and the power supply doesn't seem to be working any harder maintaining temperature. It'd be nice if Hakko included a little variety pack of tips with any new iron so the end user can be sure about the compatibility of the tips they're using.

I always wind up saying the same thing when this question pops up: I own a Hermann Miller and it's nice - at $650 - but honestly I think the Bayside Metrex is a much better deal. It's been my experience with my own HM and the one that my boss has, that the lever mechanisms tend to seize up and break at the drop of a hat and getting them repaired is takes forever and it's a money-pit - the warranty on them is VERY limited. I've got 3 of the Bayside Metrex chairs; they're only $100 at Costco, always in stock and for the pricetag of a Hermann Miller you could buy a half dozen of 'em. They have the fold up arms that make guitar playing a real pleasure and other than that they've got every lever and gizmo that's on the Hermann Miller. For a c-note it's worth checking out and if you time it right you can get them cheaper than that, I've bought 'em on sale for as low as $69! (For that price you could always put it over at the keyboard rig if you don't like it...That's where my Hermann Miller is!) www.costco.com/Metrex-Mesh-Task-Chair.product.100117458.html

So the cream looks to be maple, I'm guessing the coffee is rosewood? Interesting use of tone-woods, needs cocobolo knobs!
