Love the C12. "I can Hear the babies crying" gets a little froggy on the others but with the C12 it highlights the smoothest part of your register for your vocal style. God I want one.

I fear some hipster might be raising your puppy. You may get her back someday with piercings and an affinity for craft beer.

The syntax is that of an insular old man who spends too much time trying to take advantage of people at estate sales.

Put an SM7 in front of it, that cures everything;)

We need an encoder that is proprietary so people and companies can't just take music because the government says they can.

seems like playing live is the only real money maker, if you can develop a following... Nope. I'm in that business. It's ridiculous how little the majority of bands are paid. By the time Windish or Paradigm takes their 10% and the Manager his 15% these bands are like touring gypsies. Most have to have other jobs part of the year, including guitar lessons on the road at each show or whatever it takes. It's insulting that they have to try and sell T-Shirts to put some money in their pockets. Kids still love them and they are celebrities, but when your "celebrity" only garners you a $.99/$.66 download or a percentage of a $20 T -Shirt, and $1,000 a week for living in a Bandwagon it's nuts. There needs to be a new way to "monetize" their talent and celebrity if the song download isn't any longer that tool. There are a lot of people trying to get their head around it. Someone is going to eventually disrupt the model with a great idea. But musicians will just keep grinding, they are a special breed.

It shows you how great rock songs don't need guitar to be great, that the composition, rhythm and melody have far more to do with their success.

He's right though. If I see one more "wannabe" singer on Youtube with a condenser mic and tons of compression singing a pop vocal with obligatory bends and runs, I will croak. No one cares that you can sing, or any of the other stuff that people post on social media. The world is full of talented people who can sing, lose weight, get married, get a tattoo, whatever else it is that everyone and their brother posts on facebook. Save it. And for the love of God end these F*&K%nG talent shows.

Just scored a free Kawai Upright on Craigslist from a gentleman moving out of his home. Hopefully I can't lose money on this one.

I'm in. I love Wade's stuff. All the "loving and sharing" gets a little complicated, but if you can set a compression ratio you can figure out social media.

Don't forget the Klaus modded 87. I had a nice 87i, it definitely had a vintage type sound, simply because it wasn't crisp like most everything today.

i like your voice. Listen to some Chrissie Hynde in your spare time maybe learn some covers by her. Something tells me that could add some really cool color to your palette. "I'll Stand By You" was in the back of my mind listening to your track. She has such a wonderful ability to merge melody with a poignant, Lou Reed swagger to her song writing. She has such a singular style that blends Rock, folk, and punk.

That's the problem with living in New York Martin. You've lost your damn mind. The song sounds great. It won't get any better without more human beings contributing bits of their souls to it. Maybe a backing vocal or some other players to add color. A piece of gear won't help.
I like your Gordon Lightfoot meets Mark Knopfler vocal. It doesn't need a Neve, just an acoustic guitar and a rhythm section.

The best investment for a one man band is an Sm7. It forces you to stop wasting time and money on gear and to write better songs. For $2000 in NYC you could have all sorts of creative young people co writing with you and advancing your craft (and soul) more than any piece of gear. (Your post was about being a songwriter not an engineer)

The UREI 1178 is one of my favorite compressors for vox. Has the coolest mojo ever. You can hear it slamming here on this record Fields did.

Norah also tracked that vocal on a vintage 1084 they had there at Sorcerer Sound in Soho. That definitely adds a little extra push on some of those vocal transients. I love 1084s but they can add some boost on vox if you don't rein it in.
