I´m in the middle of a test phase where I´m using Unison preamps instead of outboard and I´m only seeing pros in this setup. Always a little curious with such tests. I sold my stereo DBX 160VU when UA came out with their dbx 160 plugins a long time ago. Thought the difference was so small and at that point I needed the money. Which hw pre are you testing against?

Maybe a rather obvious comment but you could use an external hard drive, that's what I do, at the moment, with good success. I've been using a Glyph but many brands should work. I like having separation between my data, and my OS, in case of any failure. And happily, OS works really well with solid state drives, long term bulky storage with hard disk drives. Yeah, but I’m feeling like an idiot for paying Apple SSD prices for the bump up to 1TB if I’m not gonna use it. You should not do that. Apple charges insanely high prices for RAM and Inern Hard drive. I placed an order for the iMac 2020 for one studio before the new ones arrive (do not want to be a beta tester). On that order I configured with 8 GB ram and as you 1TB internal ssd hard drive. Then I buy for half the price against Apple prices for ram memory and put in (crazy easy) and as I wrote in a previous post, add with external hard drive 2TB Samsung Portable SSD T5. Boom....there you have saved for some extra sm57s

I opted for a 1TB storage on a new iMac, but as it's soldered in, if it fails, I'm hosed.
So, I want to be sure to take care of it as best I can. Is it ok to use the internal SSD drive to record to?
I bought a "Samsung Portable SSD T5" for my MBP 16 ". It goes almost too fast. Be sure to format it in APFS format.

It's actually the 13th. So you can go buy today and still be eligible. BTW, this impacts the entire industry, look for the fallout in all manner of ways in the coming days/weeks. On the bright side, we're reacting with some cool new product bundles coming soon, stay tuned. Sweet, I can imagine that there will be some who grabs a Apollo X the next 24 hours

Yup, Drew said Ua is honouring everything up till Nov11th, good for those who pulled the trigger, not so good for those played the waiting game. I bought an octo and took the $2000 plug deal as I didn’t really need the quad, could have sold it, but the plugs are worth more. Terribly sad to hear about the fire. I can imagine that there will be a change in the planning for more than UA. When I read about it, I thought that octo satillite was just a memory. But if it's like you write kcatthedog then I should be in the loop with my registration 3/11. Sorry if I encouraged many RGOs with this thread and hope that most of them hit before 11/11. Hope this does not cause too much trouble for UA planning............. Strange 2020

Lovely music for my ears! My 4038s are never allowed to rest in the studio. They usually go through my 2 Neve 33115. Should give them some kind of bonus to show my appreciation (maybe adding a few more 4038s to increase the family feeling). Thanks for sharing Mister Chase

I think with the risk of a little over-positivity, that they will implement (SC filter, mix knob and headroom controls) in most plugins for the next update. I must say that it is an extra interesting time with UA! Luna, Bock Audio and innovative thinking. Do not regret that I jumped on their train in 2001 when I bought my first UAD-1 card. Exciting times in many ways (we are not going to talk politics here, I know ). Like to listen Vance Powell and his ideas. Very useful information and humble attitude.

Can warmly recommend what you get for your money CAPI VP26. Has 6 pieces in a lunch box with red dot. Has served me well for a long time. My next step is to fix what Tbone81 mentioned. A lunch box with 10 VP28 pieces

I think a couple of items were much more laborious and time consuming then expected , these and the Fairchilds and let’s not forgot Chile had a very long lockdown. That's true, but no excuse, unfortunately. As a businessman, you have to stand by your word. Have built up my business like that and have sometimes lost profits on certain business. But I have always stood by my word. That equation is simple in my world. I have been fully aware of the delivery time. But that the prices should increase from the order date, just because the supplier has not planned it correctly and does not get the units ready is not the customer's fault. But we solved it and Joshua was accommodating and polite 🙌

Stam got me an invoice... Unfortunately it's for $618 which is way higher then the agreed upon $499. I already put a $200 deposit down...so? stamHave not received ADG yet. But got the last invoice for U47. However, for 1890 dollars instead of 1490 dollars when I ordered it. But after a few email conversations, it worked out!

Amy mac guys here taking the big plunge....to the mac pro ? I bought the latest MBP 16 "with a little extra a few months ago. Completely crazy portable studio. Maybe not the optimal one in the big studio (regarding the fan sound). At the same time, it is easy to put it in an insulation box with ventilation. But it can handle as much as preferably without the processor even showing that it works. It costs a some €, yes. Delivers it without hiccups .... Ohhhh YES!

I just got an email asking if I’m interested in paying extra to upgrade a couple transformers in mine, so I guess after two years mine is getting close! Me2. It will be so much fun to tweak around ADG when it arrives. When I ordered it, I understood that it would take a long time for delivery, when I read the forum two years ago. So I almost forgot it and was pleasantly surprised when I received the email regarding the upgrade and the August delivery. Has anyone had Cinemag / Altran and then switched to Sowter 1327? Is there such a big difference then? Thinking about hooking on that upgrade to Sowter 1327! KR H.Hansson

My hardware fixation is microphones and mic preamps, and direct boxes. I think if you go full hog triple martini on that input chain stuff you are way forward in your tracks, whatever you mix with. Spot On! It's the same way of working and philosophy that I've had for the last 10 years and I just love it. Good gears with microphones, preamps and commitment with some good compressors on the way in. Since then, I rarely leave ITB for mixing. Uses almost 90% uad plugins that I have used for almost 20 years since they came out with uad-1. Total recall and quick changes in the mix if the customer wishes and I can do that wherever I am. I follow Michael Brauer with interest in the new path he has chosen. Always interesting with changes KR Håkan

Here in Stockholm / Sweden we are ok. My wife works from home and receives patients online (as she belongs to the risk group). Myself and my colleague keep building upcoming live studio at 232 square meters. So it's almost the same as quarantine. The mask and glasses are for fiberglass, not corona! Take care of each other and soon it will turn for the better! KR Håkan

I played Zildjian A for years. I have an older 15” A crash that is perfect for accents with snare and fast high crash. I bought my A series set years ago, and my A customs when they first came out. I use the Paiste Sig’s for metal//Rock and the Sabian AAX explosions are warmer with a nice darker shimmer, but they sound really different by how hard you hit them, depending on feel for the song. They do really explode when you hit them hard, and they sound really different. I played a few Zildjian K dark 17” crashes that I really liked. I like the 17s the 18s and the 19 crashes. Sometimes the 18s sound brash depending on type. I’ve played a lot of different cymbals over the years. Sabian HHX and Zildjian K is what I’m kind of focusing on right now for my next set. Maybe a mix of K dark and K regular or K custom I’m not sure yet. The stuff I’ve been working on lately is not metal, some rock, but mostly Americana/70’s vibe/groove/Country Rock. I have rock covered, but the material I’m working on now, I need something more mellow and dark. I like the more warm defined shimmer, I don’t like the washy, trashy sound. I did most of my cymbal purchases many years ago. My Paiste Sigs were purchased when they first hit the market. Thats the beautiful with cymbals. You can get one and the same cymbal to sound like 5 different with different drumstick. Especially with the ride and what tip, wood, size you have on the drumstick....So the myth that "size matters" is true When I want something brighter (in my world), I run with my Sabian HHX series. Fade out fairly quickly and has a nice shine/top. You will not be disappointed with the HHX series. Good luck in cymbaldjungel guitfiddler // Håkan

Really depends on the genre doesn’t it? Absolutely, it depends on what genre it is about. But I play from jazz to metal and I usually land on slightly darker cymbals anyway. Might have a little to do that I mix a lot of the drum job myself and know what "hell" it can be to have too much sharp cymbals in the mix. So overall I would recommend darker cymbals regardless of what genre it is. Just my 0.2 cents

I got the chance to test V4, V44S, V13. Love what i heard. So I bought two of each (except the V44S which is stereo). Will test them more thoroughly in the spring when the live studio will be ready. Very affordable microphones and recommend to try them. The risk that you like them is imminent KR Håkan

Looks really promising and it will be exciting to follow the “Luna” journey. Of course I have 100 and one questions. But I understand that it's better to sit still in the boat and wait out until it is released in the spring or the FAQ comes out. Reads in the threads everywhere that one wants one thing and the other wants another. I believe in this system as a recording, tracking system and sticking to basic functions so you can have a stable 0 latency recording system. Then they can focus on their own control station when they have their own "Luna" Exciting times and great job Drew @ UA and everyone at UA! KR Håkan Hansson
