I built a Hackintosh and I'm pretty impressed with it. It was my first computer build but it was fun. Some troubleshooting at first but the forums provided good help. I Just followed the instructions for parts and software installation on TonyMacx86. Lots of different options.

Looks very nice. I use a D'accapo reamp box and a Klark Teknik DN 100 Active DI for reamping duties.

I'll have to place an order and check a couple of these myself. Probably the tape and tube emu's. The LTL website doesn't show any info when I click on the models.

I've heard some blind tests (not the serpent) and the overstayer has never impressed me, sorry. I know these online tests are not the be all end all but just my 2c.

IME, there are songs that work well with a fixed tempo, others that work well with tempo changes and then there are others that work best without a click.
This goes for my own songs, too. I was surprised when noticed that some of the songs I like most don't use any click and they sound solid.

I'd love to listen to a quick vocal and drum blind comparison between the hardware and those true stereo M7 IR's. I'd never buy me one unless I'm getting paid big buck but just for fun. C'mon, someone drop my jaw.

Did a recording session in another studio tonight. After session had 5 minutes of nerdery with the house engineer, comparing his two vintage blackface 1176s with my U76, again on snare. More or less the same impression as when comparing with my Purples. The U76 is dirtier and not as full bodied. For subtle and discreet compression I'm pretty sure I'll turn to other units in the future. This is box is meant to make some noise! Just what I expect from a Blueface. I'm sold.

So, wouldn't aligning the overheads reduce the size of the drums? I guess what I'm trying to say is - doesn't the fact that they don't align perfectly give it a bigger sound? I could totally be wrong on this - I was told there was no math... I've found aligning the overheads to be very nice. Yes it does narrow the field a bit but it also cleans the whole kit up (comb filtering). I like overheads much better properly aligned. It's what we hear most of the time in high end recordings. However I doubt those engineers resort to using allinment after the fact. My guess is they spend hours manually aligning mics before the takes. I don't have the time for that nor do the folks I record have the budget for it. I agree. I guess this is a tool for fixing live recordings and such. I read Butch Vig some time ago saying he never aligns shit as it kills the "bigness" of the kit. Just get it right at the source. Never tried software aligning on just the OH's, though.

Is he willing to do one? I can run it through the Lindell but in the last AB I did, the RevD clone was slightly better. Murdered the CLA plugin, though. I have 2 lindells and though decent for the price (I paid $259 new) the WA76 is in another league to my ears. *drools*

I'm sure the Warm is up to the clone. In that case, the Lindell will be on the classified section anytime soon.

Hmmm. Debating between this and the Don's Blue stripe. I guess I'll have to download the comparison. You know it, I and everybody else knows it - get both! Joke aside, if the WA76 is more towards a rev D or later I think you'll want both eventually. When I compared my Purple and the U76 I felt they are a little different and both earn a place in the rack. The U76 a bit more dirty and colored, and...noisier... Could be that the WA is a bit more versatile, not? Spot on. But I've been toying with the idea of a revA lately. Decissions... Any drum shootout around?

Debating between WA76 vs Don Blue stripe... I guess I'm giving myself another week for listening/reading.
Thanks for the test. I'd run it through the Lindell. I tested it against a RevD clone and the Waves CLA and it's quite there but the clone had more control on drums. It slayed the CLA plugin though.

If you're ever visiting Toronto, please let me know. Maybe I can drown myself in beer while you're talking about the beautiful Canary Islands. That would be great, thanks. Let me know if you come by, too.

Canary Islands, wow! That's the kind of nowhere that I could appreciate. Welcome! Ha ha ha. Thanks for the welcome. Really nice place this one. I'd fancy a Toronto trip, too. My brother was there playing with his band and told me they had a great time. They walked through the place so much their feet hurt.

Damn... GAS. The "demo" is not that good to be a demo, not even a bypass? Thanks for posting anyway, I'll end up getting one very soon.
