In my experience, a U67 without the de-emphasis is a little peaky. Loses that gorgeous balance of the K67 in its proper circuit. An M269 still has the de-emphasis circuit. The high end response is a bit more open due to the AC701K. The RMS269 doesn't use a circuit accurate design, but still employs de-emphasis in its circuit. I had the ADK Capsule in mine and found the mic a little more open than the M269 I had used, but it wasn't as bright as the MK67 in linear mode or the AA CM67SE I had. It also had this low mid weight that was really nice.

I guess it's safe to say, as a general design philosophy, that Dave Thomas/AA prefers a "cleaner" style circuit design (and voicing) in his microphones. Chris

Got the microphone back today and tracked a vocal with it and it sounds better to me now. I'll put it through some more paces tomorrow
