Anyone here using this (or even the older version - D-Box) & feedback on it? Want to slowly start getting rid of my old board & staying with all the Pre's for outboard gear & maybe this for the monitors control section. Don't know how I'll use it's summing inputs.

I haven't heard the new one but I can say that every time I mixed through the original D-Box...things came together quite easily. Something about that box just jived with the way I mix much better than all ITB, even with the usual console emulation suspects. I think part of it is the excellent D/A and monitoring section. I have a Dangerous 2-Bus these days. The Dangerous stuff isn't as colored as some of the other units I've worked through(Shadow Hills, Burl, Kahayan) but I like it for just that reason. I'm pretty heavy handed on my preamp and compressor choices so I have to not get too colorful with the summing mixer.

I use the Antelope Satori and it's been probably one of the best buys I've ever made. It has nearly every feature of this box, but also allows you to monitor in mono or M/S, listen to each stem of your summing inputs, a crystal clear dynamic high headroom summing section, plenty of inputs and outputs and a software interface that allows you to do much more i.e attenuate or boost your summing output level. I find this and the M/S monitoring critical in my every single day workflow. I use it everyday. If I want to hit my buss harder on a mix that's done, I can simply juice the summing level or take it back and I don't have to touch anything in the session.

Hey Jerome, does it have digital in's & out's? Couldn't find that info in that & it seems Sweetwater has discontinued it. Thanks, Ariel

Love my original D-Box. Bought it originally to free up some I/O from my 2D ULN8 and was pleasantly surprised everything sounded better - wider, more articulate, more...there. Then I thought I'd b able to sell it after upgrading one of my Metric Halo ULN2's to 3D, but still prefer the DBox for D/A. Run it off AES, frees up two more analog I/O for outboard. Headphone and talkback are great for my project studio. Haven't used the summing. Used ones took a dive a few months ago - a patient person can have a DBox for $600.

Hi, I've been rocking the original D-Box for about 6 years now. As a monitor controller its superb. The sound via AES into the internal converters is superb. You really get to hear whats going on in your mix (my KH310'sm obviously help here too) the additional inputs are a nice feature although I don't use them that much. Of particular mention is the headphone amps. They are bonkers good, loud, clear and detailed. From my experience with Dangerous gear - i've also used their compressor, they punch way way above their price range. They could charge more for their gear and I think people would pay it, such is the quality. Downsides - a few more monitor outs would be good, and I'd love a dedicated mono channel, for quick checking on my mixcube. The external PSU is a bit meh, and some of the rubber rings around the knobs have perished and needed replacing. But all in all, its an amazing piece of kit. The biggest compliment I can give it, is that you just don't think about it. It doesn't get in the way of workflow, it just performs brilliantly, quietly and anonymously, which is exactly what I need in a monitor controller.

You don’t say what board you are moving away from? If its very colorful you may find the D-Box a bit clean. I went for the RND 5060 for summing and it doubles as monitor controller too. I know there are many vibey options out there.

You might want a vibey summing mixer, you don't want a vibey monitor controller. But yes, the D-Box is very clean....

I like my original D-Box quite a lot. Same problem with the rubber rings coming off the knobs and that is my only (non)issue.
I run it line-in to a pair if 1073 clones for a hint of color.

Wish I could afford the Convert AD.

Hey Jerome, does it have digital in's & out's? Couldn't find that info in that & it seems Sweetwater has discontinued it. Thanks, Ariel No it's purely analog besides the digital interface for the GUI, as far as I know. The new Dbox with the USB and BT is pretty cool, but I wouldn't ever use it.... I love Dangerous's gear, I used their Source forever when I first went into the hybrid world and that was when I understood by not monitoring the console I was going to have to have a stellar DAC. I also have their Convert AD+ and it's a beast of itself. I wouldn't doubt this new Dbox sounds great, the old one did, but I was dissapointed they didn't put in the ability to monitor in M/S, that little feature get's used for a majority of every mix I do. Also, I don't think that Sweetwater carries the Satori, but VK and all the others do, you can get one for about $1,750 now.
