Nothing like playing music in a tape library.

Apart from the lovely honesty in the playing and the obvious camaraderie, the sound of the library is perfect.
Cheers

I handed off a project to a Nashville guy who worked on their record, I'd have to look up his name, I think he got a grammy for it. Been curious about the music ever since. Thanks for sharing.

I’ve learned that what happens in front of the gear is way more important than the gear itself.

Yeah, several of the best things I've ever tracked were the soundcheck, with lots of technical stuff kinda F'd.

Wow that had a lot of top end EQ going on. Not sure the mics even matter when you got that much hiss from boosting like 12db above 6k..

Yeah, several of the best things I've ever tracked were the soundcheck, with lots of technical stuff kinda F'd. I have a hard time separating a magical performance from an incredible recording. When the magical performance happens, it is difficult for me to be analytical about the technical aspects of the recording because the artistry is so overpowering.

Those lyrics made me laugh. I like the vocal sound, great clarity and reverb.

KSM141s for the SDC.
Sweet tune!
To quote the great Al Schmitt: "It can be a bad recording of great music, everyone will listen to it. It can be a great recording of bad music, and no one will listen."
Gear is always secondary to the real reason we do this.
Music.

Not a fan of the vocal verb at all. I think it makes the vocals sound too processed and kind of wrong. It would sound more authentic and immediate without any verb on this at all IMO or maybe just a hint of something less obvious.

True about the reverb - cool on the slide but not so much on the vox although it works better for Keb than Taj- the performance however totally kicks any tech worries into touch for me. Cheers, Ross

Nice, but Taj Mahal's reverb was too fake. He's sitting in a small room with books, not an auditorium. Reverb should be just a pinch, not something you notice. Only listened on my iMac speakers, so can't say much about the mics, but they seem quite good.

Goes to show that if you stick a couple of mics in a decent room with some talent (and manage not to screw anything up in the process)..... it's probably gonna sound pretty good!

But seriously, that had a lot of soul, reverb nonewithstanding. Love the dobro.
