I don't care how "famous"? the guitar is alleged to be, nearly half a million dollars for a '70s Strat is just delusional.

I feel like $5000 for ANY guitar is pretty much ludicrous these days.
$1000 gets you a ton of guitar these days. Even less, actually.

Clearly a publicity stunt pure and simple.

Nothing terribly interesting about a 70’s Strat... I think even Ed knew that but probably kept it for nostalgic reasons.
Seems like his entire collection was for sale at Carter. Jason Isabel was playing them and doing demos - looks like he wasn’t able to put the Red Eye burst down and got it for himself.
I’m glad it’s in the hands of a badass player that will use it instead of hanging on a collector’s wall.

Where's the link for whatever guitar he played with Strawberry Alarm Clock in the scene from Beyond the Valley of the Dolls?

Sorry Johnkenn, I think I’m going to have to pass on that one, also. That’s just too much guitar for a mere mortal such as I.

Gee,, wonder what the 63-64 pre cbs strat I sold to pay for the damage I did to my dad's jag is worth now ! that apparently depends upon whether Ed King wrote “Sweet Home Alabama” on it.

I don't care if Taurus wrote Stairway To Heaven on that guitar. Still not worth the dough. 😂😂

Years, & years, ago... I believe it was 1983, I was lucky enough to spend a few days with David Gilmore at his place in Redding.
One night after a bunch of us returned from the local pub (The Highwayman) Dave opened up his vault, or guitar closet which was housed under the Studio's control room. He was gracious enough to show us all his private collection. I got to hold the first serialized STRAT ever made.
Priceless I would imagine?

Oh, it was a gold top: At 1:57 the actress who played Uhuru on Star Trek makes it into the shot during the scene, Nichelle Nichols, at least she looks just like her. Nichols too it has been told, wouldn't pay much for that Strat, but she WOULD bid up if it was one of these fine string instruments.
