There was a shoot out a while back not se and I preferred the symphony sounds more Euphonix, tbought avid sounded a little sterile, so I presume I will prefer the se all the more ?

That Avid vs Symph MKII is one of the things that got me interested in the Symph as well.

I added the 2x6 SE module to my 16x16 a while back, and yes, I would do it again today. No issues, no buyers remorse. It gave me the extra I/O I wanted in my hybrid analog summing workflow and it sounds great. I also sold my Dangerous Source and now all monitoring is via the 2x6 se module and I print back from the 2Bus+ via the 2x6 se pair of analog ins. I also like using the Apogee remote for my monitor control. There are a lot of great options out there, but if you already have a Symphony MKII and need some additional I/O with great conversion and have an open slot in your Symphony chassis, I think this is a great option. I really like the Dangerous Convert since I am a Dangerous fan, but having everything in one box is nice. I also don't notice any difference in my fan in the Symphony after added the 2x6.

yes, I have the slot and the se adds back all the i/o the 16x16 lost.
I only use one set of monitors but what is it you like/prefer with the dangerous box ?
Did you have a Convert and sell it or just demoed?

No, never owned the Convert, but it was one I considered when I wanted to add the extra I/O since I've had great luck with any other Dangerous gear I've owned. I think when you get to the level of the 2x6SE or Dangerous Convert it is going to come down to personal preference.

Unless you end up monitoring with digital monitors ( Genelec 8351, Dutch & Dutch 8C, etc) then the conversion would most probably happen at the speakers & the SE would only be used for tracking?

I don't track through my SE. I have two of the analog outs feeding my main monitors and the two analog ins are permanently connected to the summed output of my 2Bus+. I also use the SPDIF out on the SE to feed a headphone amp.

I have two of them and love tracking through them.

Can you describe any audible difference when tracking the SE's v. the "regular" ones?

It's really a different unit / board than the regular Symphony and it sounds that way. Just more true with no hype anywhere and excellent detail. The highs always seemed a little hyped or slightly annoying to me on the Mark I and Mark II.

That's interesting since the go-to criticism of the Symphony (for folks who don't dig it) has always been that the top was too soft and mellow.

To me the top always bugged me on vocals. What went in is not what came out. Not as noticeable as when you're unhappy with what a certain compressor does to a vocal but the same sort of nagging dissatisfaction. The SE is mastering level and there are no subtle artifacts or shifts. First time I've ever been completely happy.
