What amp would you recommend for the TB2S+ monitors? RMS power recommendation? Jcouto1...I saw a pic of your PMC’s in your home setup you posted, which model are those? I don’t see any models with an offset tweeter except for the Two Two series, and the cabinets look like the TB2S+’s?

I use an Emotiva XPA-200 with some older TB1's. Don't really know a whole lot about different amps though.

According to PMC the TB2+ is 90 dB 1w/1m, so in near field 50 Watts is probably more than enough power. stage accompany has a great SPL calculator on their site if you know your speakers efficientcy. A Adcom GFA 535 or 545 series 1 modded by Jim Williams will kick ass. The Emotiv is nice but some have had QC issues, a used Bryson 2b or 3b is a common paring with PMC. Theirs a little nuForce switcher that is one of the Audiophile Darlings, and Some little DIY amp that Stereophile has been Ravi g about. Other than the JW modded Adcom, the little 25 stereo tube Ultra valve by Audio By Van Alstine has been the favorite here as of late.

Trying to track down a DS-001, guess they don’t exist anymore. According to a PMC Rep I just spoke with, PMC used Bryston amps, but modded them to work with their drivers. The drivers are very high bandwidth and require an amp that is not slow and bright. Now they use Hypex. The plot thickens...some of the buzz words describing a suitable amp are:
Class D Fast Transient 200 watt rms(150 LF - 50 HF Drivers) Very low distortion Maybe even a high shelf attenuator(shelf 4K and up) to soften the hi frequencies built into the amp design
These are also bi-ampable. That’s about all I got...and that’s something to chew on!

Look at the Emotiva stuff, I'm pretty sure they're up with the times. I'm not sure the Bryston stuff, the older like the 3BST and all can do what you're needing to do. Sounds like you're going to have to take those specs and call someone that can sell you what you need. Joel over at WestLake here in town is doing a good job at tracking things down for me and getting me taken care of, he's pretty sharp.

PMC also always says they developed the Radial driver Technology not Volt, well it was Volt, they also make it sound like the mid in their Lower priced. 3 ways is not a Stock Vifa/ Scanspeak so I always take what they say with a grain of salt. I’ll for the most part still take class A/AB all day long!

I agree, and yes A/AB, but I never liked D. It’s clean, lifeless, clinical, just a few buzz words. Anyway, I do want an amp that’s not bright, but mostly flat in its frequency response.
I’m interested to find out more about the Hypex amps/cards. I don’t know much about them, however PMC is using them now in their active designs.

I found a Bryston 4B-ST used. Does anyone know much about this amp? Yes, it has plenty of power, sounds terrific and won’t ever stop working. i have a 3b powering some old mcintosh 4ways in my living room. Wonderful amps. the room down the street from me has a whole rack of 4bs in each room. They use them for the ns10s and also for the low and mids on the bigs. The tweeters on the bigs are powered by Manley tube monoblocks because they’re a little softer. older Brystons are a good deal these days too.

I found a few amps that will suffice for now, however I just hooked up one I had laying around, not the best sounding amp, however I was so impressed even with this lower grade amp that I can't wait to hear a really nice amp hooked up to these PMC's! I will try hooking up my higher end Denon just to see how much better it is from my reference amp. I think I'm going to be very happy, I can't believe the detail and the nice solid lows, and I can hear the really deep lows. I think my room sounds much better than I thought. After reading all the posts regarding these monitors it seems that if your room isn't right you will not like these monitors. I can't believe how accurate, open, and the stereo field(depth and width) is very nice, I haven't even broke them in yet. I can hear the compression on a lot of the pop vocal songs these are so laser beam accurate in the mids and up. Another noticeable thing that I love is when I hear four part harmonies I can hear each voice separately if I focus on one voice, and that is amazing. There is air and separation between vocals. A new dimension to me. I pulled up a mix I'm very happy with, and it just floors me now that I'm actually hearing things I couldn't hear before. I can't wait to hear them with some really good power put to them! I've been on the Genelecs for so long that this is a breath of fresh air. Experimenting with placement...fun stuff!
