Always had an interest in this reverb, but never tried it. A latest/greatest convolution verb is the only thing missing from my arsenal. It's trial time. E/W Spaces II

Spaces 1 is pretty cool. it's for film composers. it doesn't have many short verbs.

I never used Spaces1....but, Spaces2 is the best sounding IR I've used. And I fucking hate that...I need to spend $299 on a new reverb like another hole in my head...maybe I'll rent it on the Composer Cloud thing for these mixes...but, this might be a bell I can't unring.
I pulled Seventh heaven Pro and this...7th is unique in how "thick" it is...but, the last thing I need in my recordings is more thickness. Makes it great for like acoustic and vocal only kind of thing, I would think...but, even though it's less $ (or was on BF when I was planning to buy from these demos)...there's nothing here I will miss when the demo ends.
Anyway Spaces 2 has the kind of input matrix I like in a reverb. Which is kind of dual mono to the ER part then crossing as needed in the tail. So, unlike some other IRs, it performs well on an AUX panning INTO it....most IRs, Altiverb being sort of king of this, are IME, KILLER at putting THIS into THAT space. But, send several tracks of different "THISs" into it, and it just doesn't work. It goes from this ultra realistic on oneinstrument to..."bunch of phasey mush" on a bunch.
Is anyone using this puppy?

Thought you'd might appreciate this funny anecdote.
Goto "band room" preset in Altiverb: Cello Studios
Fave in Spaces2: "East West Studios"
...so, in looking it up, since I kind of knew they bought some famous room and renamed it East West Studios...guess which one? Right. Cello. I apparently LOVE the sound of that room!!

Great observations. I completely know what you mean re: multiple THIS's into THAT. And I also reached for Cello a lot when I was an Altiverb user.

What made you switch from Altiverb?

What made you switch from Altiverb? I was in a plugin selloff mood and wasn't using it enough to justify the few hundred bucks I could get back out of its license. I miss it though.

Altiverb’s specific shortcomings are what led to Spaces creation according to EW. They author IRs for their instruments....and they could never get them to sound right in Altiverb. They started looking into what was so different about Apple’s Space Designer (where they founded as they should) and AudioEase....the results of that research led to Spaces.
It’s what got me to demo it because while I consider myself picky as shit about Reverb, I’ve never had an issue with an IR doing that thing an IR does well....until Altiverb.
I’m gonna see what it takes to get IR1 back and up to v10 with the rest. They have a BUNCH of mics up from Cello at 96khz....
