I just found this : www.audiorax.com/SDLIm thinking about a new desk, 3 16 ru or 3 12 ru angled mastering rack desk. This might be to “huge”... I have my video monitor on a TV stand (ebay, works great ) and I DIY’ed studio monitor stands yrs ago. The legs from this link I think could work, you can get them 22” or 28”. order 3 cheap wood racks, a few additinal pieces of wood wood and assemble. My current desk is a DIY of sorts. I picked up some marine pleather intended for boats and wrapped the armrest, works for me so I would probably make another.

They look good I don’t think your going to find something nicer unless you DIY, but I would talk to a local cabinet builder as well and I would also check the local used office furniture recycler just to see what they have. The only negative other than price and shipping costs are no built in option for a cross price for torsional support.

if I use prebuilt wooden racks and these legs Im hoping I can pull it off. They want $999 for a 2 8ru desk version of what I want not including shipping. So I imagine what Im looking for would be more than I can afford to invest If I were to contact them asking for a 3 16 or 12 ru version.

Anybody recommend a cheap but decent wooden rack for this? Cheap racks probably least expensive prebuilt solid wood, but I’ll say this; a rack is probably the easiest DIY project out there a home center can cut the wood to length a couple of clamps, a drill rack rails crews and washers and you have a rack !

These bases will take a fair amount of weight but every time I go to the local office furniture recycling place I see bases designed to take more weight with the legs braced for 1/4 to 1/2 that price with a top!

i actually picked one of these up in the ikea scratch and dent, and put a scratch and dent ikea kitchen top on it - instant 8' desk I want to cut the center out and drop in some keyboard and fader pack areas, but that involves actually doing it.

I did too! I got one of the thicker but hollow tops and screwed it to the base. it was cheaper and lighter this way. I'm seriously thinking of replacing my mixer desk with one of these to have more leg room.

I had a similar thread going a few weeks back. I ended up getting 2 12u slant racks, made by grundorf. Cost about $500 total. I’m using them as legs for a table top. Works great, looks good too. I recommend doing something similar. There’s a lot of usable real estate under the desk.
