It's an emulation of the Beatles "Artificial Double Tracking" thing with two tape machines. Grab a demo! It does short delay/modulation/doubling stuff. Can get flangey too. I bought it the day it came out and have always liked it.

The ones I'm for sure picking up are the CLA-2a and 3a. They sound friggin' great. I already own them but don't want to pay the WUP. $29 each is a no brainer for me. I've missed 'em.

so the $29 buys them outright and you never need to update/wup: right ?

so the $29 buys them outright and you never need to update/wup: right ? No. All Waves licenses require WUP when a new version comes around. You get a default year or something of coverage so if a new version comes out soon after you purchase, you get that. But you only need the new revisions every once in awhile and only if you're updating DAWs or something and you run into a compatibility issue. The older versions continue to work for a long time usually. I only lost plugs when PT went to AAX. You can usually run a given Waves plug without WUP'ing for years. But since Waves seem to have moved to the All Firesale All The Time model, I don't know how much action their WUP program is seeing. Instead of paying the $200 or whatever to WUP all my plugs, I've just bought back the few I actually wanted at $29 a piece. I suspect lots of folks are doing the same.

I really like the 3A on guitars. Even if im barely moving the comp meter(no comp needed). Most of the time I like the tonal effect.

I grabbed the PIE comp too. I can't believe how much I like that thing. It was another AAX/WUP casualty that used to be a go-to of mine. Fired it up yesterday and man does it scratch me where I itch.
