Output cranked sounds really good to me. Better than the first clip in fact, really impressive guitar sound.

I agree. I’m gonna start using it this way on everything. IMO, that's a pretty huge sound for a mono guitar.

Output cranked makes sense, since the output is (I think) a fixed gain stage. So you’re not attenuating the signal anywhere between the input and output.

Definitely sounds really impressive with the input cranked. 10 o’clock sounds ok, but it seems cranked really illuminates the character of the preamp. I dig it.

Yes.But also the Soyuz surprised me. I was looking at getting a pair of 84's but for a third of the price these seriously opened my eyes.

I’ll bite What do they bring to the table ? To me they sound prettier more linear to the 84’s Comparatively a bit more smiley face but natural not in a weird forced eq kinda way. More useful for me.like I would likely eq the 84’s more @ mix. Yeah they sound great. Also I have a gorgeous pair of km56’s already.

Sounds great! Can you tell me about the verb setup you’re using? I like how it adds some width without sounding too wet.

A little goes a long way. Indeed! I never think to use verb on acoustic, but now I’m gong to need to experiment. For now Exponential is off the table as I’m running an older PT HD rig.

Thanks to our Dear Leader Johnkenn, I had a chance to compare the new VP28 Pt-A to a regular VP28 (Litz/RedDot) and a Heider FD312. I played acoustic guitar into a 414eb and spoke into a Beta58 for my comparisons. To my ears, the new VP28 Pt-A is much more in Heider-land than the original VP28. It’s a bigger sound with a more meaty bottom, most likely due to the upgraded transformers. This could be a good thing, or a bad thing depending on what sound you’re after. I’m a sucker for bigger and fatter sounds so I really liked it! The added meter, DI and impedance switching capabilities are an added plus over the originals but at additional cost compared to DIY as well. I see a few of these new VP28 Platinums in my future!
