I logged into my Avid Account and it says update for $99 in a big green box. I thought maybe they were offering that again for previous perpetual plan users, however after speaking with AVID that isn't the case. AVID said I let that expire that I only had 30 days to renew. I remember this being the charge to continue the perpetual plan, but since I went back to UA Apollo they have that PT mode for the interfaces and I believe that works much better than with any other DAW. Is this the case? Or does PT mode work with every DAW now? Been out of the loop for a few years and just coming back to it. I guess I have some catching up to do. Looking at getting Pt again now, but not in a hurry, just maybe they will come out with a cheaper option to renew my 12.8.3 PP.
I also tried to set up Cascade function with no luck using the 8P with a 16 mk2. I searched the UA website and didn't really see anything I haven't already tried. One exception, is there a different driver to download for the cascade option? Maybe I didn't get to the right page, but doesn't seem to be a lot of info on this.

In your console settings, you need to pick PT mode to get the 32 channel I/o actually working?
I think what ever interface you put first (top position), deafsults to master the rest slave ?
So, probably you want the 8p on top?
By cascade I think you mean master/Slave and all 32 channels available or in your case 24?
As long as everything is tbolted together and settings are correct, I think you should be good to go ?

Thanks Kcat! I need to reset everything and reinstall drivers. I can't change it now that it has already been activated with the 8P as the Master. I want the 16 as the Master because it has the better conversion and Monitor section, and I will be doing most my mixing on it. I am tracking on my laptop with the 8P. I just thought I would try cascade and see how it works. This system is actually going to a different location, waiting for the new ESS boxes to come out. I am using this in the meantime with possibility of expanding once I see what UA does in the near future with under powered UAD2 platform, and If these Mk2 Apollo black boxes will even be compatible with the new mk3 boxes. I am still getting acclimated to Console 2.0 and it's a little learning curve just to find everything. It looks so different to what I was used to before 2.0.

Ua has already introduced Tbolt 3 card which is backwards compatible so you are already futures proofed?
The 16 has better DA but I don’t think there are other monitoring differences?
To reset any interface as master you just drag it or set it to top position in console settings?
The Gannon videos show you how to do your basic set up and you probably know your typical cue mixes so you could set those up as defaults. It is handy to have everything including computer going through console as demonstrated.
Don’t know if you are a fan of Sonarworks but you can set it up system wide so everything (PT, computer and cans), gets the same correction, so more uniform , accurate monitoring sound and they have just released an update so their system is even more accurate.

Kcat is right. No need to reinstall software. In the console settings just drag the unit you want to the top of the list and it becomes the monitoring unit.
