Designed in conjunction with the expertise of mixer Chris Lord Alge, the CLA10 studio monitors are the faithful modern reproduction of the most iconic studio monitor of the last 30 years. Mix with the studio monitors that truly define "the sound of hits". Cabinet A tremendous amount of attention has been put into ensuring that performance matches that of the original speakers. CLA10 is made from MDF with a real wood veneer. We changed the rear terminal plate to use a better grade of connector. The crossover network uses the same value capacitors – just a better grade of material and rating. The inductors exactly match the original in dc resistance, winding dimensions and value. Drivers The AV10-MHF tweeter dome went through a difficult engineering process to get the exact phenolic resin doping to match the original performance curve. We do this in-house to ensure and exact match with every lot. The AV10-MLF woofer uses custom tooled mechanical parts that recreate the original. The AV10-MLF woofer cone is made to match the original. One of the original vendors is our supplier and we worked closely with them to get the same stiffness and weight. The main difference is we chose to go with a pressed cone as opposed to a lapped. This allows tighter control over stiffness and weight. All of our testing revealed no tonal difference or response between ours and the original. This has the added benefit of being the first time matched pairs are truly available. Specifications System Type:*Passive - full-range two-way stereo pair Frequency Response:*60Hz-20,000Hz (Accessible musical range) Power Capacity:*Program – 60W, Maximum – 120W Sensitivity:*90dB SPL (1W, 1m on axis) Components: Low Frequency: AV10-MLF 18cm cone High Frequency: AV10-MHF 3.5cm soft dome Cabinet:*10.4 liter sealed design, 18mm MDF with real wood veneer Cabinet Dimensions:*381.5mm x 215mm x197.5mm ( 15”x 8 ½”x 7- ¾ ” ) Cabinet Weight:*6.3kg / 13.9 Lbs (each) AVAILABLE: August PRICE: $699 per pair Attachments:

I sold mine on Reverb a year or so ago ..for ~$600 I think. I can't tell you how relieved I was to get that monkey off my back. But apparently that's what they're worth if they're faithful reproductions.

I was shocked at how cheap these were. I guess my first thought wasn’t a negative one.

Actually kind of interested in these. The price isnt too crazy considering how accurate to the original Avantone claims they are.....now let’s see if they come out with a Bryston copy to power them:)

I was shocked at how cheap these were. I guess my first thought wasn’t a negative one. Well that was the thing about NS10’s they were CHEAP and built like crap speakers! Everybody had them because everybody had them and they were cheap. I’m glad for those who think they are the holy grail of monitors that they can get a new pair of speakers and parts, but I’ll never understand the attraction.

I feel at home on my pair. I’ve got 3 sets of drivers and tweets stashed away back from when they were still reasonably priced. I’d be interested in trying out a set of the new woofers just to compare. It’s so easy for me to get correct balances on a set of 10’s for me. Sure I’ll switch to something else for tweaking eq’s and such, but I always double check on 10’s

Cool. But if they sound about the same and cost about the same as the originals, i’m not sure why I would buy these instead of actual NS-10s.

New with warranty/manufacturer support is a lot better than an unknown history involving potential items like questionable storage, wear and tear, prolonged exposure to UV light, smoke, etc.

There was a time for them. They were really helpful when cars had coaxial speakers that were tinny and low mid heavy.
Now most are 3 way and have DSP correction burned into everyone that rolls off the lot.

heheh. Not what I meant. I was just referring to the verbal style. Just kinda tripping around the concepts, but doing so with total self assurance.

The promo video is amazing. The oscillating lighting in the video is distracting/weird. Also, it could be worse...imagine if these were a Slate-endorsed product.

Dude, his name is on it! Totally getting a pair now, I was kinda on the fence, but there's few things I love more than pseudo celebrity endorsements. Also, I'm kind of a brand whore.
