Duality for $7,000? That’s some sweet action right there!
I wonder what it will actually sell for

99.9% certain price will sky-rocket before the closing of the auction. There's no way dealers won't capitalize on something like this.

Most of these auctions are bid up by guys who don’t read the fine print about buyers premium and shipping costs. Dealers will try but more and more it’s the idiots.

Plus you have to arrange pickup and shipping. Not cheap. Im sure lots of people are bidding thinking its just ebay..which sucks for those that want to actually buy it!

There are lots of catches to this auction. The site doesn’t make it clear, but the 15% fee is charged on both internet bids and in person bids. I emailed the auction company and they confirmed this. Also there is a nearly 8% sales tax charged whether you are in state or not. Also, if you are not on site, you need to hire their 3rd party company to pack and ship the item to you. So all in all there is a 23% fee added to any winning bid, plus if you are not on site, a packing/shipping fee.
On top of that, all items are sold as is. Your item arrives broken? Too bad. You don’t have the eBay/PayPal buyers protection. The fine print also says that as soon as you win a bid, securing the item is your responsibility. If it gets stolen, you’re SOL and still have to pay for it.
So all that said I’m surprised at the high prices on some of this stuff.

Just a tip if anyone is grabbing something.
I'm in New England and purchased an amp from an LA auction house a year or two ago. It was a similar situation to this. You purchase, pay with wire, 15% fee tacked on, you're responsible for pickup. Anyway, I popped onto taskrabbit.com and hired a guy to go to the auction house, get the amp, and deliver it to a UPS store. UPS packed and shipped the amp.
It was basically a logistical pain in the balls, but Task Rabbit was great, the amp arrived safely, and I ended up selling the amp locally for a profit in the end.

Yeah many of these auctions have a limited pickup window and some will add expensive storage fees if you miss the window. Best to only bid local and if you can personally inspect gear to see what’s what. Figure out your max bid with fees and tax and lock it in. I have been at a few of these auctions and here is what happens on things like the consoles: there will be some local guys who will have researched the price on these, but have no Idea of what should be included condition or how to transplant, these guys will bid it up to between 33% to 50 % of used retail and the try to flip it. God help the guy who buys it from them! Best case senario is the school hired who ever commissioned the SSL to pull it and somebody they work with is the high bidder but there is always some nutcase on the phone who thinks he’s getting a bargain who bids it up with no idea what he’s doing and the thing ends up back on the market where it sits.
