corruven.com/design-materials/Just found this. I haven't dug into the site deeply and I didn't see any specs, but Uven-R product is touted to provide both diffusion and sound reduction characteristics. The former looks like a reasonable claim, but I have my doubts about how it might tame sound leaking through walls. Anyway, it looks like it might be a bit more affordable by the sq. ft. than current diffusion options. What do you all think?

I saw a lot on the site about eco-friendly sustainability, blah-blah and woof-woof but what I did NOT see was a single word about acoustics.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for sustainability and ecology, but it it's supposed to be an acoustic material, well...... And the pics did not look like properly designed diffusors to me.
Would like some real info.

Scrolling down on the UVEN-R product..
"ACOUSTIC PERFORMANCE The interlaced design controls the noise by diffusing and capturing it behind the panels, helping reduce the ambient noise of the surrounding environment."
It makes sense that there are at least some diffusion properties given the curved and protruding surfaces, and I agree that they don't look "properly" designed, at least not in a conventional diffusion pattern. I also agree that there needs to be some real info, and without that, it's smoke and mirrors. There really is none on any of their product. In fact, the quoted claim isn't even all that clear when you parse it. Does the design diffuse the sound that is captured behind the panels ..or is it diffusing the sound in the room ..or both?
Based on the how the site is constructed it looks like they are set up to work with architects and contractors more-so than directly with the consumer so I was hoping that someone might be familiar with it.

The ribs are very shallow, and they're all the same, so it'll work to diffuse high frequencies but that's about all.

If its flexible enough the panels look like they could be made into cool hemisphere diffusers.
This is definitely architecture focused, and an alternative to solid wood panels. I am pretty sure that is their focus. Replacing solid wood with laminated panels that can stand up to commercial use. Unfortunately they have a life span of 2-10years from the PDFs on the site.

Correct me if I’m wrong but wouldn’t WOOD diffusers be the the most eco friendly build?

I sometimes wonder that cows would becomes extinct if they didn't taste so good. Let's face it, they're not as cute as koala bears, and humans have been really good at.. Ahem, I mean responsible for the extinction of hundreds of thousands of species during our tenure on the planet - if only by way of greed and neglect. There's nothing like a little financial incentive to get us to save something. Which reminds me - What's up with Brazilian Rosewood these days?

If I remember correctly, this was Alan Keyes's argument in the 2000 Republican primaries. If I'm not mistaken, he cited chickens as an example. I think his claim was that we didn't need to worry about overconsumption of things, because consumption causes us to "make" more of said thing. Wow. That was 18 years ago when that happened. Holy shit.

Not to mention that it's butt ugly..... That's an understatement. Plus the installation looks like a real pain in the tail.
