Well...if nothing else, it looks cool as shit. Played with it for a little bit and I do think it added some nice sheen to a vocal without getting harsh...still playing...

I'm not convinced this is necessary. Unless they NAILED that compressor...

It is amazing how only 10 years ago you COULD NOT get a sale on actual vintage hardware with ANY signs of rust, people went to great lengths to repaint things and hide it, and now this look......

I know. It’s corny. I do love plugs like Valhalla that aren’t skeuomorphic. Although, with something like a Fairchild or 1176, it’s easier to know where and what things do.

I wish their graphic designer would partner with a killer hardware company and make some awesome looking gear.

Need to try this - Acustica EQs are absolutely in a class of their own, but I haven't gotten along with the comps from any of their strips aside from the very recent Pink 2 (API) update.

I liked this one quite a bit, but then I dug out Black Box and decided I didn't really need Cream. It didn't feel like I could use both of them together with Cream's input cranked. Plus these Acustica plugins can be a real pain. Nothing else I uses ever really crashes Pro Tools, but having Cream and regular Azure in the same 96k mastering session along with the two Weiss plugins and a couple efficient things was a constant problem. I'm not even sure an overclocked 8700k or 7700k with 157 single core points on cpuuserbenchmark would yield much more benefit over the 115 or so points my Ryzen 1700 OC scores. There is a guy who just got a 7700k system who was supposed to report back in the Gearslutz AA thread. By the time computers hit 200 some single core points, I feel like someone will come up with something better than AA's current tech that is also efficient.

I’ve been using it lately on vocals. I like it and the compressor is good too. I feel the pain of PT crashes though. Their plugs are a bit wonky but sometimes there’s a sound they have that I need. On my current 96KHz project, I’ve been using them a lot and I end up having to freeze most tracks that have an AA plugin on them. Even when my playhead is stopped, my CPU sits between 50-85% 😳. BRUTAL! This is with their new plugs too (GOLD, PINK2, CREAM, TAN) I will use AA much more judiciously next project. Trying to resist the UAD train.....but stability is cool.

I've been going with Cream and the old RS124 plugin on bass lately. Over the top but fun, well fun sound, not the chaos Cream creates. I'm freezing basically as soon as I get it set.

Tried this...didn’t wow me Phew - another expensive acustica plug I don't feel compelled to buy. These guys are murder on the wallet. I think I'm fairly sorted with what I have, but there's always the danger that they'll release another Gold / Pearl / etc which just blows everything else away. I'd have bought Ruby if the price weren't quite so steep, and Pink 2 is great to use but there are so many API influenced algo plugs that it's harder for that one to set itself apart.
