Amongst many others, recieve newsletters from a stores and online shops selling gear, including SoundPure. Noticing this Warm product being highlighted in their current newsletter, clicked on the description and lo and behold...whoever wrote the copy is for sure nobody that knows gear inside and out and at least to me leaves a fairly bad taste in my mouth concerning their professional demeanor. The copy... The first thing that jumps out about this piece is price. Personally, I’ve never been interested in items that drag around the “bang for the buck” moniker, so needless to say I was a little bit skeptical of the WA12. There are some really great Neve clones out there that, on top of nailing the sound of the 1073, also nail the fit and finish right down to the texture of the knobs. These can be very expensive and for the no compromise enthusiast, worth every penny. For the more budget minded who are less concerned with visual aesthetic and more about capturing that classic musical tone, they need look no further. I tried it on a rock vocal where I quickly and easily was able to get a warm and vibey Neve-ish tone that took minimal effort to sit properly in the mix. Simple, tried and true design coupled with better than you’d expect electronics yields a better than expected.
Cut and paste, modern day professional advertising. That is just crazy as they profess"Buy from us because we know gear inside and out". Really?
Maybe I am way over the top on my rant, but really!

Also the WA12 is an API 312 circuit, not Neve. Maybe that was part of your point

That was half the point, the other wondering what scenario could lead to such a glaring error.

They've clearly just got the model number wrong as they talk about the knob design and finish and the WA12 doesn't have Neve style knobs.
People do make mistakes like this, I know I have in posts.
Someone should email them and I'm sure they'll correct it.

Attempts by reviewers to insert history and fact are virtually always horribly mangled, proving the lack of understanding with regard to either, and usually also operational technique too. The people being paid to do this work are not paid enough to be people who actually know much of anything.

I'm gonna step in here because I bought around $25K from SoundPure, who beat everybody else in price for my purchases. I found my rep Doug Wessling to be very professional and informative, never had any hickups with any of the ordering or the delivery. I bought my two Lauten Atlantis' based on one of those Youtube videos. They sent me the files quickly and didn't try to influence me one way or the other. When a drummer knocked over the Atlantis and broke it, they quickly fixed it and repaired it. I have no dog in this hunt financially, but my experience with SoundPure has been very positive. .

I'm sure that SoundPure hire's seasoned account professionals like Mr. Wessling that know their stuff and deliver the goods, and if it were any other way and they screwed customers or left them standing in the lurch with frowns on their faces and stooped shoulders they most likely would not be long in this highly competitive field of Pro Audio sales. I guess I came across kind of mean spirited in my post (the bad taste in my mouth thing) though I really would like to understand the scenario where a bright orange API clone can be confused with the grey of the Neve when there is nothing remotely close in model name or nomenclature to confuse matters.

Perhaps just simple human error and there is no real logic to it ?

I agree with you that organizations should have professionalism at all levels. This is a good example of how a bad impression can be made. If you want to understand how the mistake was made you should ask them, and you are doing them a favor by showing them their error.

A lot of this stuff is written by ad people not audio guys, and the guy who’s job it is to proof this stuff is probably doing it at 3AM! Back in the golden old days of print catalogs we made a game of finding errors in our own and many were so stupid we were embarrassed!

That's really harsh, man. Sometimes it's deserved. Can't (or shouldn't) be nice to everybody, especially when they don't deserve it.
