I've been laying down all the electrics for this song ending today. We still have to add some big roomy drums to it but I am REALLY digging the new PINK2 API-styled Plugins from Acustica. They sound so dang API...I can't help myself. The EQs and Compressors in that package are REALLY REALLY good...but CPU heavy like anything Acustica makes. Electrics tracked with the Heiders so it has that going for it too but there's a lot of yummy PINK2 EQ on these electric parts. Chain: Epi Dot Studio (stock), FX pedals, Princeton Recording Amp, (mix of 414EB, 4038/451 combo, or MD-409U3 mics) -> CAPI Heider FD312s -> RADAR www.dropbox.com/s/fbtjorfqi915br7/cb-eclipse-rough7-endingonly.mp3?dl=0

Did you know the Pink EQs and - I believe - the pres are modeled after CAPI and not API?

From Doom64 on GS:
• EQs: Based on API 550a (A), 550b (B), 5500 (C), 560 (780/PEQ) and CAPI LC53A (D) but have continuous gain and constant Q (bandwidth) options. • Compressors: API 2500 (strip) and modified 2500 with crossover filters from TubeTech SMC 2B, Masalec MLA-3/4 and a custom filter by Acustica (2412/7236). • Preamps (1-8): API 512, 550b EQ, 2500 compressor, distorted API 512c clone, API 312 (maybe), API 312 homebrew (maybe), CAPI VP28 and CAPI LC53A EQ.

Hi John, I have heard that. I’m not sure if that’s the original PINK or the newly update PINK2 but avgatzeblouz is correct with his post...at least that’s what I can figure out by reading the PINK2 docs. The plugs these days are making it harder and harder for me to want to mix hybrid through my analog rig via PT. What a PITA to recall, esp. when you can get great sounds on the way in and mix with cutting edge plugs! Instant recall to boot.

I've been tempted to get the UAD API stuff. I thought it sounded better than the Waves. EQs are where Acustica really shines IMO. Guess I'm just going to have to demo.

You tried the comps? I haven’t really been able to get much useful out of the Gold comps...but the eqs are like hw.

No telling which version I have. right. so you use the installer program aquarious now for everything. they updated most plugs to use core 12 since it's release. you open aquarious and re download your plug from there. it will be the latest release by default. this will overwrite your current version. there is also an update tab but i found that i have to just re download the plugs i want to update for it to work.

spindrift, which reverbs were you using on that track? It sounds fantastic. Thanks Martin...it’s pretty heavy handed and only works on that odd track once in a great while. It’s a touch of Abbey Road Plates but most of the long ambient verb is Little Plate (Abbey aeerie preset or something like that but tweaked some). If there’s one thing the MP3 codec destroys, it’s reverb tails. It sounds twice as rich on the 96/24 WAV!

This comp seems really nice. Need to try it on a drum bus to get a real feel of it though.

The comp in Pink2 is awesome. People always say Acustica shines in Eq, and it is true, but most people did not try the reverb libraries from Cupwise and others. Makes anything else sound like a broken toy. But using those reverbs makes my CPU act like a broken toy too !
