In terms of managing disk space and using logic, do people know, are the files in the audio folder duplicates of what is in the session folder? Can one delete the files in the audio folder to save disc space or do the session folders have proxie files that are actually the files in the audio folder?

What "session' folder? The list of files on the right side of the screen in Logic? Unless you can find them somewhere else other than the "Audio" folder, I assume they are one and the same. It should be easy enough to figure out, right? Delete one and see if the other disappears. I'm pretty sure I've done that and found it to be true.

If you delete them from the audio sub folder the song session can’t find them when you open it.
So, ok to delete outtakes and unused files from Audio folder but not session files.

You need to switch to using the monolith format of LPX ratter than the old session folder BS. Technically, it's STILL a session folder but it manages the contents (by hiding it from the Finder by default). There is no optimization you can safely make outside the LPX UI*.....which gives an enormous amount of options in terms of removing undo levels and cleaning up unused files, etc.
*pejorative "you"
1---Media Bay>Project>Edit>SelectUnused.....press delete.
2---File>Project Management>CleanUp (proceed with all three options checked--it will confirm if that is going to delete files)
....are going to be the two that return the most discs space, IME.
Then, when you're done with the project, I've said this a million times before, but you need to store it as consolidated linear PCM files (WAV or AIF) in a folder that has nothing to do with the "logic project folder" (or monolith)....24bit/sessionRate PCM files with timestamps and/or rendered from zero. "Lead Guitar Solo"...."Snare57".....etc. This is what allows your work to exists beyond the confines of Logic v10. Tape machines....you didn't have to put the reel on a Studer if it was recorded on one....you didn't have to mix on the Neve it was tracked on--someone could pull it up on their SSL....etc...so, while that archive procedure (which I recently posted here about) is ultra important in the panned back sense, it also will make the smallest archive of the multitrack+mixes you can ever have. That will never be from a DAW session folder with all it's various "edit" duplications....revisions....etc....

This is right ... shortcut. hit “F”....shift “U” then delete then do the project clean up all my songs are in there own folder. I copy that folde to a second drive and also to icloud cheers Wiz

I should also point out that with the monolith format....when I do incremental backups, it still gets treated like a folder--ie, backup software doesn't see it as a single 2gb file....so, if you record one new track, it WILL just incrementally copy over the new 1 AIF....I would assume the same for burning software. It's basically just using some kind of extension that makes the Finder see it as a single file. You can always right click and "show package contents" if you really need to monkey in it....
