I probably shouldn't even contribute since I've only ever used a handful of 500 series modules but I landed on a pair of the Great River Harrison 32C and they're indispensable to me. You can push the frequencies around like crazy and it just sounds right. They're creamier than SSL 611's or API 550b's but not overly colored. They just kind of impart a smooth, console-ish sound. Like what plugin console emulations pretend to do. great river is one hell of a stand up company too. I’ve dealt with Dan on a repair of my EQ-2NV, and he’s one of the best of the best.

I love my 6 LTL Chroma pres. They're loaded with pairs of Implode, Royal Blue, and Mass Drivr module and get used on everything from classical to pop music. Highly recommended as they're so versatile.
I also like my Rascal Audio Two-V a lot. It has a great "weight" to it, but can be colored or fairly clean and clear.

Fantastic replies, thank you everyone! I'm definitely getting a pair of A-Designs EM-PEQ, and I still have to make up my mind on the next purchase. Probably a pair of Chromas, but which color module? Ah, decisions, decisions...

Ah, decisions, decisions... If you're after the "console" sound, I highly recommend the Royal Blue or Mass Drivr. I'm more partial to the Royal Blue Module, but both are great. I've also been thinking about an additional pair with the tape sim from DIYRE, for a little of that vibe.

Ah, decisions, decisions... check out the DIYRE pultec's. 1/4-1/2 the price, and awesome from reports. As for the color module - I'd suggest the Royal Blue's. Good luck.

I’ve GOT to try a Great River pre. Don’t know how I’ve managed not to.
I’ve been really thrilled with the Chandler TG Opto. It’s reeeeallly hard to make anything sound bad.

CAPI all day everyday. My humble but cherished rig has 5 VP28’s, 5 fc526s and a pair of vp312’s. Also REALLY loving my Soundskulptor cp5176 and JLM LA500.
While I haven’t finished the build yet I have high expectations of the DIYRE eqp5...

No one's noticed there's a pair of Analog Allstars Pultecs in the groupDIY black market for less than the kits cost (slight issues).....they need to go away before I get another pair....

I saw those and was really tempted... They don't have the full metal jacket though. I ended up with a second pair of CA-250's instead.

Thanks! The Implode is tempting me as well. I might need to get both!
