It's the lack of color and character that actually turns me away from any Schoeps microphones.

But I recall you like the MKH 105's you have....in fairness a much older model MKH (I have a pair myself as well as the more modern MKH), how do you hear them differently? It seems you hear them Senn/Schoeps oppositely of many peoples descriptions.......sorry if my memory is off.........

When they work, boy howdy, do they ever work... but only when. Same goes for Sheppies. 2. Hear things differently. Yes, I've been told that. I tend to hear things earlier. Stuff sounds to me like it will a year from now some times. So, I miss some of the initial impressions but get the long term ones - I'm just spitballing here, but I definitely hear differently to a lot of other people. It really ticked off Joshua Stam once too when he sent me previews of some things and I heard things in them that weren't intended. Meh.. perhaps we all hear differently and learn to conform to what we're told we're supposed to be hearing?

MKH 30 on a small combo amp sounded exactly like the particular combo amp....and that wasn't a good thing. Totally accurate, no flattery in that case. A Samar ribbon that replaced it was like a new lover in comparison.
