One of my favourite CDs was the first one "Robben Ford and the Blue Line" in 1993 it won a Grammy.
This mixture of a "Funky" Blues with a dash of RF great Jazz Playing.
"Tell me I am your Man"
The A Part he hangs in that secondary dominat b13 chord on the second degree of the scale - STILL GOOSE BUMPS.
The drummer tight, always there and grooves like twins with the Base-Player. The snare mixed very funky.... Great delays and verbs ....
And not to forget Robben Ford sings wonderful.
1993 is still one of my all time favourite works.
*Great players. *Meaning in every song. *Great Studio Work.... T+M
Still love it.

I saw him several times during that era and previous. At divey little clubs in LA where you could literally reach out and grab the set list. Killer player, killer tone, great memories.....

Did live sound for him in ('98...? '99...?). Had "8" on stage (4x Fender Twins). 20k watts of Meyer could barely get the vocals over those things. Great stuff - But shows like those were not for the faint of heart.

I never heard this album till now, but the clarity, separation and space of this mix from the album is superb.
Great stuff!

I think the un-busy arrangement helps with that space and separation! Good sounds.

Man in my FOH days do you know how many times I made Guitarists walk out to FOH and have somebody else play some guitar to show the guitarist his amps were to fucking loud I couldn’t control him and then walk the house to show him his stacks beeped and had no coverage and the mains did!!!!

Beautiful math. Clean counting & phrasing, nothing bleeding outside of the lines here. A crystal clear picture.

That's why I gave live sound away 20 years ago. Unprofessional guitarists who thought that by making their off stage volume as big as their egos somehow made them special. I had several consecutive smartarse players who overpowered the entire PA and refused to turn down. The last one was nuts with some hotrodded Marshall head and two 10" quad boxes literally flat out in a fairly small bar with only a 2.5 KW PA. He threatened to punch me out if I told him to turn down one more time so I shut the PA down, told him that if he wanted to play solo and destroy everyone's hearing he obviously didn't need the rest of the band or me, and I went at sat at the bar. He stormed off stage and then came over and tried to pick a fight with me but got dragged off by the bouncers.

The first time I saw Robben Ford live was at the Bottom Line in NYC. Tommy Emmanuel opened. We got our money's worth that night, to be sure! I'd never heard of Tommy previously.
Then I saw The Blue Line in a little club in Rochester NY around the time of the "Talk To Your Daughter" CD. Another stellar show. I love Rosco Beck.
Robben and Tommy are two of my all time favorite players.

He was an incredible player, they grew up playing together...amazing players cheers Wiz
