I'm not in the market for a monitor controller now but I anticipate that I will be in a year or two. In the past I've owned the dbx Driverack Studio and the PreSonus Central Station. I've since sold both and I don't have a pressing need at the moment but when room allows one day, I'd like to pick up a pair of mid-fields to go along with my near-fields, so I'm looking ahead. I came across the Audiolinear Axis today and I'm intrigued for a couple of reasons: It seems to me the biggest plus is that it's a passive unit that doesn't require electricity. In my head that says it will probably effect the sound no more than would a patchbay. Am I wrong to think that way? The other cool feature is that each output has its own trim pot. I can see where that would be a very helpful tool for equalizing volume when comparing a mix on near-fields and mid-fields. Just wondering if any of you had any thoughts on this piece of gear. vintageking.com/audiolinear-axis-monitor-controller

No, but I can heartily recommend the Drawmer controller (MC 2.1). A key piece of my studio. It’s got trimmers, mono, 3 outs, talkback, phase inversion, all you need!

On the bottom, adjusted by a screwdriver (or guitar pick!)

On the bottom, adjusted by a screwdriver (or guitar pick!) For my own wants/needs, those pots are too inconveniently placed. I'd also prefer a friendlier ergonomic design. I don't see myself ever building a separate recording room so the lack of a talkback button on the Audiolinear Axis isn't a big deal for me. My needs are fairly simple... transparent, 3 outputs with trim knobs, mono button, mute button.
