Dudes, I'm so done with Pro Tools. So done.
I'm editing a vocal track and every time I separate a region, it nudges the track. Doesn't do it on any other track except the vocal track. Been Googling this with no luck. I don't have time for this.
Anyone have any pointers here?

Oh, and also my standard trim tool is stuck on loop. When I select the standard trim tool, my pointer still shows the loop trim tool.

Now it's not doing it, and my standard loop tool is back. Didn't change a thing. Didn't even shut down the seesion. I've just been highlighting and deleting regions. All of a sudden it's I noticed my standard trim pointer was back and separating regions wasn't nudging the track.
So maddening. Tell me I'm doing something stupid. I would much rather deal with operator error than glitchy software.

Bummer. Have not seen that before, but have found there are a few accidental key commands that are frequent and irksome: e.g. accidentally changing the tempo mode (now the click quits working) and decoupling playback from the cursor position.
I assume you’re combing the duc? It does seem to be the largest trove of this type of info.

So it appears this behavior is linked to certain regions on this vocal track, this first half or so. What could have been done to these tracks to cause this? I received these from one of the band members who said he was going to 'clean up' the tracks for me. They are definitely not cleaned up and now something weird is going on.

Have you tried making an alt version of your session, consolidating the clip (hopefully the vocal is already comped?) deleting the track, and then re-importing the consolidated clip on a fresh track?

Make sure your “trim tool” (first one after the magnifying glass) is set to the first selection. Click and hold and make sure it’s on the first one.

And that’s what makes it so bizarre. It’s selected, I can see that it’s selected, yet my pointer still shows it as loop trim.

And it’s only behaving this way (with separation causing nudges) on the first half of the track.

Never had this happen so I’m just thinking out loud - Is it possible elastic audio got enabled on that one track so when you make an edit, it’s trying to “correct” the region by aligning to the grid, quantizing, time shifting or something? I’ll check! I don’t use elastic audio all that much, so im largely unfamiliar with it.

And it’s only behaving this way (with separation causing nudges) on the first half of the track. Do you mean when you try and peel back a section, it then peels back every section? If so, that totally sounds like the trim tool is on one of the other two selections.

Can you post a few screenshots?

I think I just figured it out. They were looped regions. At least the regions on this vocal track that were acting weird. I noticed the loop icon at the bottom right hand on these regions. I right clicked and selected unloop and things are behaving normally again. For some reason, I received the file this way from whoever was 'cleaning up the tracks' for me. Undoubtedly a mistake on his part. Good to note, though. Looped regions behave strangely. Thanks all!

I assume you’re combing the duc? It does seem to be the largest trove of this type of info. Speaking of, do you know the shortcut for decoupling the playback cursor (timeline insertion follows playback)? Dude, that's the ONE thing that drives me the most crazy. I'm work, work, working along and BAM. All of a sudden my playback doesn't follow my cursor/insertion. WTF? If there is a shortcut keystroke, I'd like to at least know what it is so that I don't hit it.

every time something like this happens to me. Just create a new session and reimport the session data from the last one. Usually works out

The timeline insertion follows playback shortcut is the super easy to press when hitting the space bar “N” key... almost no way to not press it from time to time thats what it is? ‘N’? Well, I’ll be damned.
