Since Logic Drummer I very often see myself not hiring a real drummer anymore, special if we talk simple song drumming. When I am done with a song, and I compare it to my refrence tracks by my favourite songwriters and guitar players it is hard for me to say logic drummer does not sounds like a drummer. Logic drummer makes it easy for non drummers, to programm typical drumming parts. IMO it sounds a lot like a drummer. The diffrence gets more obvious with more complex, fast drumming. As long as we talk simple drum parts my ear cant pick it in a nice mix anymore.
With older drumming software it was easy even for me - as a guitar palyer. But Logic Drummers plays very nice ghost notes nice HH parts IMO.
Any Drummers opinion on this....can you hear right from the start likeI can with virtual guitars.
Opinions?

I’ve been fooled several times. I will think a person has some solid drum tracking skills only to find out it’s a VI

I’m not a drummer, but I do an awful lot of drum recording. The software drums can be somewhat convincing in a mix, but to me, there is still no comparison to the real thing. The energy and bleed is much different - even the fake bleed some software emulates isn’t nearly the same. Impressive tools, but still not my cup of tea. I get software drum tracks from clients to mix commonly and I’m not a fan. That said, they are useable and mostly hassle free and convenient for writing

I think working with the Producer Kit versions, with multiple outs, overheads, etc can make it much more realistic. You do have to do a lot of variation during the parts. Any copy/paste will be seen. On older versions of Logic I used to use it for tracking and then export to midi by dragging it to a midi track, separate out the snare, kick, etc onto separate tracks, spend hours adding little variations and then often bouncing to audio to sum into a compressor. All to try to get a realistic vibe.
