So, I have been getting my head around having a real board and OB fx to use and as I transitioned working on a new tune "soon". I decided to stay with developing the same tune, so that was constant. So, here is a ruff session mix using the delta eqs and my ob comps but nothing on the 2 buss and minimal plugs in session: 7th heaven verb though. I guess my big take away so far is that for me using real gear makes me much more aware of subtle things in the mix and it seems to me that the real gear can be used with more subtlety too ? For example, if I want slight differences in a track's volume and or presence, I can raise or lower an ob comps output by 1 increment and hear that difference. Big thanks to Wiz for al his patient advise keeping me on track and Svart helping me to understand some of the electrical issues. Early days but I am appreciating this new system and its abilities and potential: been fun to use mu new Warm mikes too. Constructive comments always appreciated. soundcloud.com/kcatthedog/soon-24-bit

Yes, working on hardware does seem a lot more sensitive, and often you'll find that small adjustments are quite effective where ITB you'd be doing somerthing more exaggerated, if that's the right word.

That’s a good way to describe it: exaggeration or excess. With my new ob signal chain its like my working resolution was recalibrated to a finer scale, so you can make smaller moves.

Itb exaggeration really comes down to the plugs you are using.
Whilst I agree otb has stuff itb cant touch yet the good plugs dont exaggerate.
Unless of course they were designed to.

Sorry if I wasn’t clear, I wasn’t saying the plug exaggerates.
It seems that the plug ins’ effect is less noticeable , than is the effect of the real gear, to me, so I then use the real gear with more precision.

Yep Wiz is a great resource as well as being a really nice bloke in person. Best to visit him after easter time as he seems to have an abundance of left over easter eggs. Hmmm chocolate.

Plugins (and digital processing in general) are oddly insensitive, so YOUR MOVES tend to become exaggerated.

@johne:
Yes,, that is exactly what I find, plus previously with my Apollo, I simply couldn't hear things as clearly and or linearly.
So that is why I prefer my symphony mkii to work in to and from.

One of the first realizations when I went back to the Console was the how much simpler it was to mix with continuously variable pots, all DAW controls are stepped to some degree and often you have to trim things to get that level between steps for it to sit just right !

One of the things about digital audio is that everything is quantized, it's how digital works. So of course all the controls are "stepped" - digital itself is stepped. And when you're adjusting controls based on renditions on a pixelated screen the quantizing is going to be even courser than the digital resolution of the program itself because you're confined to screen resolution.

Only got to listen in my truck but sounds good. I like the guitar tones and the chorus gets stuck in my head.

In the US Lepage is a major source for mucilage office glue, used for papers. Don't recall seeing any other glues by them here...
