Okay folks, my ProReplicas Rev. D has arrived and she's a beauty. I asked Robert to use original Urei/UA transformers instead of the Anderson replicas. Here's my part of the shootout. I used Logic and tried to match the settings that were originally specified, i.e. Attack 1, Release 7, Ratio 4:1, max gain reduction around -15 at the word 'god'. Converters were my Apogee Rosettas. Now, my file is way beyond the 3mb limit for attachments, it's 6mb for the 24-bit and 4mb for the 16-bit version, how do you guys get it to less than 3mb? Meanwhile, here's my unit: What happened to the UREI branding that he was doing? I think you guys scared Robert into not using it anymore . I also would have preferred the Urei design, but he had already switched to the PR faceplates.

Haven't had the chance to listen in comparison, levon but thanks for posting!! It sounded smooth just on the MBP speakers (but what can you tell there?) Yeah - the whole UREI branding was the biggest draw for me (well, and sounding great) - but I guess it's all illegal and stuff...Maybe we can communicate it through emails...

I've got a 2nd SPLICE 500 on the way. Mike at Serpent was able to match it to my 1st unit bc he logged all the specs. Now that's some foresight! That dude is serious about the details.

I've yet to hear one, but I can tell you from a technical standpoint, the splices should sound more like the old 1176s than anything else available, Mike went through painstaking point by point detail, and exhaustive component sourcing, to get things to sound exactly right. dandeurloo might be able to share more on this as he was prt of the R&D on it... I think?

I think? tonycamphd, after doing the shootout against my Rev D, F and A...the Splice was the ONLY clone I thought was worth purchasing. I sold the D and A, kept the F and now 2 splices.

You didn't take a hit sonically? 2. the rev A&D in one, the 600 ohm loading, side chain filters, blending knob, and now you have enough $ for other toys? Tell him what he's won Johnny!! 8)
