Not too expensive (I have a lead on a pair for about $650). Multipatern. Could be cool for Blunlein, mid/side, bgvs, horns, overheads, who knows. I was thinking about a pair of Fatheads or something, but buying inexpensive ribbon mics used scares me a bit and new they're about the same dough as this pair of Spirits.
Anyone using these? Anything else I should be looking at, especially able to do Blum stuff since I don't have any matched pairs off fig 8 mics.

Strongly consider any decent non-matched figure 8's in mid side to achieve the same pattern; maybe you only need one more mic rather than a pair. I find it works better at the close distances we tend to work in studios, for establishing center image and giving much greater versatility when you need to narrow the image.

For my money and that need, I’d take a pair of Warbler multipatterns (pick your voicing). The Aston mics are dolled up and look really cool but I’ve been unimpressed with what I’ve heard. Which is admittedly not a ton. Plus with the Warblers you get the three patterns and the 3 voicings (it’s just a gradual, successive HF rolloff but really handy).
