I was wondering, why the Tonal Balance Control plugin can analyze a number of reference files to match, while O8 assistant only allows to reference one reference source at the time? Hm... Whatever i try from iZotope has something unique and the AI approach is great IMHO. Also some very practical presets in all of their products. I guess Ozone does a great job in speeding up a mastering process for many genres...everything about O8 i saw on YT was pretty impressive... To me it appears like what automated online mastering services try to accomplish plus total control about the complete processing chain. I guess this can be of great help for people who master occasionally their own stuff.

Yeah, that is interesting. It seems to me that processing reference tracks for TBC and O8 would be similar, if not identical. It would be nice to have the multi-file capability in both. I know it is against common practice, but I mix into my mastering chain as a matter of course, occasionally bypassing it all to see the difference. I print pre-eq/limiting though, and then bounce with the mastering chain active. I can't imagine a scenario where my music would need to get professionally mastered, so I just work through it unless we're tracking.

thought I'd post and update. I'm mixing a very simple and sparse singer songwriter.
rca ribbon mic on guitar amp and rode nt2 on vocals.
this is the first time I've only used neutron by itself so I'm using it as the full channel strip. on the master is the klanghelm mjuc.
I think the plug sounds pretty good.
the eq is great for surgical stuff. this will be my new surgical eq. just kissing the compressor makes vocals sound better the enhancer is fantastic for adding dirt. I think for those uses it's a winner.
the ai stuff so far.
I am finding the eq can be a bit off at times with this set of songs so i am tweaking it or setting it from scratch. the eq on vocals keeps adding a shelf from 2k which is not what's needed. i can see that might be good in a dense pop mix but not on this folk stuff. the compressor sounds great so i am really only messing with the threshold the exciter is also very good and doesn't need much input from me as the ai seems to work well.
i do think it is possible to do an entire mix with only neutron. you could pay the rrp price and not bother with any other plugs.
that said. i have a handful of plugs i'll be using with neurton.

Looks like ill grab ozone at the end of the week and use it to master the songs mixed with neutron
What I'll do is upload 3 version of one of the songs. The raw version, the mixed aka neutron version and then the mastered aka ozone version
Whilst I am certainly not a pro It will hopefully provide a good comparison of what this software can do for the hacks amongst us.

I just bought the elements bundle on a whim when it was on sale for $60 during xmas. So far I’ve found neutron useless in my setup. The stock EQ in logic (which is my go to for surgery) beats it every time I try neutron. Probably haven’t spent enough time with it but I find it kinda blurry. The compressor is alright but not as useful as other plugs I have IMO.

yeah the eq is not super clean. it has a very subtle analogue thing happening. to me it's slightly warm but i can understand you describing that as blurry.
i also prefer it cutting than boosting.
if that's what you are talking about.

I'll be doing some comparisons with my go-to, the Fab ProQ2. I want clean EQ most of the time, and I'm so used to the Q2's gui and sonic transparency. We'll see.

could it be neutrino that you are hearing and not the eq?
maybe try the clean mode with neutrino.

been a delay with the comparison. i'll upload to what your working on forum. the hold up is the artist asked me to wait until he does his mini launch thing.
keep in mind we recorded demos but there you go.
