I'm not the one who brought up Stam products into "boutique" theritory. Sorry but they are not. Are you really comparing Stam and SSL? What makes them inferior? Price? Well Josh keeps the labor & other costs down by using Labor in China and I think his home Country of Chile (forgive me my freind if I got it wrong😢) , he keeps his margins low by selling direct, and funds the parts with last runs profits and deposits. Stam has made a point of using quality known parts and honesty there are so many clones out there that the design work isn't that hard! It hasn't all been an episode of the Brady Bunch but for a small startup in a country a bit off the beaten path! The gear so far hangs with the big guys, at least that's what wars I trust say!

I’ve been working on SSL’s daily for about 10 years. I ordered the Stam4000 when it came out on a whim thinking I’d use it when doing lower budget mixes on my home rig.
Is it exactly the same as the E, J, K, Duality, or AWS I’ve used? No. Does it get you 90% of the way there? Sure. How much does that 10% matter? You decide for yourself.
For the price I got it, I’m happy enough. The timeline was awful, close to a year wait. The TRS thing bummed me out, opening it up and seeing how some stuff was hooked up isn’t exactly ideal. But it works.
What more do you want to save thousands of dollars?

Shouldn't this have a name more creative than EQP1A? Because it's not one. This same name shit is totally out of hand, especially when it's not. Doesn't matter how good it is. It's straight up misleading. Like EQP&M? EQPM+? Something....it's not hard.

The quality of the components is listed. Premium transformers, premium inductors and capacitors equals an excellent sounding unit. The assembly will the same quality as always Also, most of people reserving are returning customers, they know what to expect (delays, poor communication skills and the best clones you can find anywhere at the best price)..... Just joking, I am getting rid of delays, February will be a game changer for us, we expect to be up to date with all pre/orders in March and from then onwards have stock on all units, slowly getting there 10 left by the way at the 769.00 price Quality of parts don't equal quality of assembly and design. I've seen your work on your 4000 compressor which reflects perfectly your low asking price. Far away from "boutique" construction if that means anything. If business is good than good for you. Cheers! Stop. You haven’t even owned a peice of the equipment and you’re trashing it. Save it for Gearslutz. If you have direct experience and have a complaint you are welcome to post it here.

The Stam dynamic is already very close to that of a group buy, in my experience. Understood, was wondering about savings on shipping , duties, taxes as they add very significantly to the initial price plus exchange and hidden brokerage handling fees

You couldn't be more wrong, and that's a cheap shot for a guy with 17 posts.. There's a world of difference here. On occasion things get testy, but it's around 95 % less often than the other site, and even then, members step in to get things back on track. There's a history behind how this all happened you're probably unaware of. The camaraderie and sheer number of professional members is a rare thing online, and I for one am grateful for the opportunity to share ideas and insights on my work with so many helpful and brilliant people. The resume of some cats here are extraordinary, and we're lucky to be in such good company.

What makes them inferior? I've seen the guts from a 4000 comp. Quite funny. Not certain what your point is, as the ssl comp by design is not and never was a complex schematic or build? Perhaps because it became so noteworthy people think it is more complex/sophisticated than it actually is. So, if anyone makes an ssl 4K clone, what exactly are you expecting to see: gold plated caps ?

Well, it's not called EQP1A =) yes it is! SA- doesn't cut it. Wow... the EQ looks gorgeous! Josh, you did it again! and dammit... that was something I always wanted to do. I always wanted to marry the MEQ to the EQP1A into one box... unfortunately I kept that thought to myself for years instead of doing anything about it.
