Very cool. Yeah, I even feel my RMS269 may have just a bit more on top than the real M269C. That said, I don’t think it sounds harsh either. I love the beefy quality in the low mids. I still have a bit of a U67 bug. The MK67 was just a little too dark, especially cause my voice is super warm to begin with. Stam’s SA-67 sounds really nice, but a little bright from the clips I’ve heard, and I just don’t have the money for reissue. It’s not going to beat out the FleA49 on my voice, so it’s not worth obsessing over. It’s ok about the singing. I wouldn’t post my piano playing, so I get it. I can see that. I can't compare, but wouldn't be surprised if the z67 was more open up top. All that said, I care more about how the highs sound if they are at least in the neighborhood, which I think they are. I feel like it's always easier to pull a little down from the top than trying to add it in to a mic that just doesn't pick them up well. But I appreciate any time I can mic something and not touch an eq. All accounts seem to point to the MK67 being dark... wonder why. And yea, I would totally love a quarter of u67s(or more) for drum overs, piano, voices, horns, electric and acoustic guitars. I really love that midrangey smooth sound they have. But $28,000.00..... haha. That's just way out of my league. I doubt I'll pull in that much from mixing gigs in 4 years. That Flea 49 is a gem and I would love one some day. I need to finish my 49 build here. It's very close. I have heard that Flea is working on their 67. Honestly, as close as their mics sound to the oldies, I would be just fine with a Flea 67...

FleA releasing a 67 could prove a little dangerous for me. Lol. I may just keep an eye on the Neumann rerelease and go from there. If I’m going to spend thousands I’d rather it say Neumann in it. I’m waiting to hear it next to some originals. My 49 is really nice. I’m still kind of figuring out my new signal chain with it. I like UAD1073 into a UAD LA2A right now. I have and SSL Alpha Channel coming in early next week. I’m looking forward to trying that preamp.
As per your question on the other thread, which I realize was a joke; I haven’t really bothered my wife, because I know we’re gonna have to do some major testing before we start recording her vocals for our Christmas album. My first session with the arranger/orchestrator is tonight. So, there will be some testing with her voice in a week or two.

I personally trust that the Neumann u67 that is out now is the real deal. However, if the Flea is 4k and the Neumann 7k.... that does make a difference for me. But I wouldn't buy them in either case unless I start making some real cash tracking myself or others. If I did, I'd start with on u67 and work my way up to 4. Gotta have overheads and spot mics etc. I do really enjoy the UAD stuff. I don't have the 1073 but I have some others and the LA collection. Very good plugs. Sometimes hard to tell my rev D kit 1176 from the Rev E on their platform. Very good! Glad to hear you guys are moving forward. That is a BIG undertaking. Can't wait to hear what you guys do! Good luck!

After coming down with a raging case of gastroenteritis the day I received this mic, I finally got to play with it a little. First impressions are very positive. It's certainly a high end sounding mic. I noticed right off the bat it handles esses better than any condenser I've owned. It's tight on the bottom and allows closer mic placement. There is a smooth, velvety quality to it. I will post some clips and more thoughts soon. A wonderfully warm condenser though! So I saw what looks to be an incredible deal on an ADK TC 67 at frontendaudio. Any experience comparing the TC to the Z-Mod's? I listened to all your clips with the z-67 and they sound fantastic. It seems there is a different capsule in the Z-Mod, not sure how this plays out in real life. For reference this would be to compliment my Miktek cv4. Looking for something great on acoustic guitars, cellos/strings, vocals, and maybe as drum room mics. Thanks.

I have no experience with the TC line unfortunately. My only ADK experience has been the z67 so far. Unfortunately after a very bad January and some unexpected setbacks, I had to return the z67.
Wish I could be of more help there. I would fully expect the z mods to be in another league, though.

As a hard working and talented guy, you know that it is hard even for someone with superb skill to make a living in this industry and I sir, am definitely not superb in any measure. Time to find some more things to do!

I completely understand. Was just sad for you when I heard it. I picked up most of my gear when I had a day job. Last year I got a lot of new pieces, but other than my U87ai I have a completely different microphone locker from the year before, as I had to sell stuff off to buy those new pieces. It’s the first time I’m working soley as a performer/studio owner and man it’s tough.
What other Mics do you have around?

I would like to get a degree and enter the jazz loop around D.C. with the rest of my buddies at some point and get a couple more bucks that way. I know it's not much but it will help and it's a direction I want to move in. I just need to get my health in order somehow. I've got a couple Miktek c7's, a c5, Coles 4038, AEA r84, two Groove Tubes Velo 8s, two charter oak m900s a friend has on semi-permanent loan, and my two TLM 170s which will be the last thing I'll ever part with. This year I got rid of 4 KSM 32s, a Josephson c42 and some others I can't recall. I've got plenty to do some damage here still, but a nice smooth dedicated vocal mic would have been nice. Bills come first, though. I'll get it figured out... The plan was enough mic's to mic a rock combo or jazz groups etc. It's turned into more of an overdubbing situation though. Rarely do I get bands. I seem to get more mixing, too.

I've put my studio together the opposite way. I've amassed a collection of versatile vocal mics, but don't really have any "instrument mics." Even my Altec 639A Ribbon was one of the most popular vocal mics of it's time, while being a popular Upright Bass and general work horse mic. At some point I really need to pick up a really nice pair of SDCs.
It's funny, because that was always my philosophy too. I wanted a rig that could accommodate a small Jazz ensemble or a small/limited mic setup for an orchestra. I have (18) preamp channels in my system, even if (8) of those are the octopre, which I don't like. The real reason I even picked up the BLUE Bottle Rocket Stage 1s was my desire to use (3) B4 caps and in a decca tree with the Stage II in the center and Stage 1s for Right and Left.
Last year I sold: Presonus Monitor Station (was making my signal darker than it was) Advanced Audio CM12LE with Vintage Mod Advanced Audio CM251 Advanced Audio CM67LE with Vintage Mod (did not want to sell this) Slate VMS (Sold my WA12, BLUE Baby Bottle, and Modded Studio Projects C3 for it) MK67 Kit Shure KSM44 (my first pro mic. This was hard to sell even though I never really used it.)
Ended the year with: BLUE Bottle Rocket Stage II (2) BLUE Bottle Rocket Stage I (B0, (2) B4, B6, B7, (2) B8) FleA 49 TLM67 internals to use in my U87ai (It's a nice compliment to the U87ai.) RMS269 (which I'm still on the fence about)
Kept my U87ai, Altec 639A, and a cheap pair of Audio Technica AT3525.
Right now I feel that I could do some small sections though. Record a small Brass section, then overdub a small string section, etc. Now I'm focusing on a few other things. Hopefully a pair of SDCs, but first I need a new pair of monitors. One of my Event 20/20s has an issue with it's Tweeter. I just compensate by mixing in mono, knowing things are darker out of these speakers, and checking my mixes on other systems.

With that mic collection a major monitor upgrade should definitely be your next step! I think I just found someone interested in buying my Event 20/20s. I'm looking at a pair of Yamaha HS7s. My mentor had a pair of HS5s with an HS8S Sub. I know the Yamaha sound. I went into Guitar Center Yesterday and was listening to the JBLs, M Audio BX series, and the Yamahas and I think they'll work. I'd love to get something even more high quality, but I just don't have the funds.

With the voices in your house I would aim a bit higher Vincent go spend some time with some ATC, Amphion Quested Proac Harbeth , Dynaudio! You deserve to hear what those mics are doing for you, think of the speaker as a bigger heavier mic operating backwards!

I've spent a lot of money on some of your recommendations and I haven't regretted one yet. lol. I agree with you 100%, unfortunately I had some personal bills creep up, so spending on gear has been halted for the most part for now. I can pull off a pair of used HS7s, so for now that will have to work. When I'm ready for something bigger I'll make another of my never ending threads and begin the discussions with everyone. Hopefully this guy on LetGo comes through and I'll sell off these 20/20s. In generally they're just a little mid heavy and lack high end detail. The Yamaha's will be better for that and work for now until I can afford something a bit better.

Ha thanks it was never about “ selling “ but about finding the right gear for people that attitude resulted in loyal customers who bought a lot of gear! A quick story I briefly tried to come back and a Teacher at a local high school came in, a year earlier we had been working on finally replacing the small amp under powering the. Subs, well my replacement at sold a single Mackie amp that wasn’t going to survive driving 2 ch of subs at nominal 2 ohms per ch, the plan was 2 Crest 7001’s ! I’m telling the client “your going to regret it , your going to be buying new amps!” The owner Jon Lipp reminds me that we don’t tell a customer he bought the wrong thing from us, it’s not good for business! I follow him into his office and respond “No it’s good business to sell the customer what he needs! Not a fucking quick sale of an amp that wii never survive on a deal that was done because the superintendent, the teachers boss was sick of paying for recons we were not even qualified to do! The manufacturer had been pleading for years to get the right amp, The PO was written a year ago and if the Superintendent ever figured out this teacher had changed a P.O. again he was probably unemployed and if we didn’t get permission to change the P.O. we were done as a vendor (this was a client who’s job I had saved many times over by jumping through lots of hoops). Well guess what he isn’t a teacher anymore and the new guys brother works for Sweetwater!😁 The Yamaha’s are a step up from the events which are all about the bass! Oh do I understand budgets!
