Funny, I was hoping B WAS the Stam. I figured it was the Vintage. IMHO it sounded the best... Chris Me too.

@ achase4u
I have never used a real neumann 87 so can't really say, but I do find my wa87 has a mid range emphasis. For me I actually try to sing off axis a little, to get a little less of the mids. Although some will argue about the relative quality of the wa87 cap, they did with design and build try to emulate the original 87 cap.
I'd certainly encourage you to try one yourself as that's what really counts ! If you want to send me an email, could wetransfer you a wav file/session wa87 (no pop filter)=> wa273eq, with tone in but eq relatively flat but rolled off below 80 or so.

Has anyone here gotten their SA-67? I’d love to here some actual thoughts on it that don’t come from a media machine.

AFAIK MJB, no "Reveal" yet. In any event-in person, I prefer the darker Bock 67 voicing, for my voice vs. the Reissue-only tried one though. IMHO though all three microphones in the Stam video, could be first rate on a given vocalist, especially with further processing. Chris

B is the Stam
67's are shipping, we have had 90% of tube failing after 48 hours burns, only 10% pass, I have lost a lot of money on the 67 buying NOS tubes
The wonderful EF86 for you all

+1 Wow. Congrats Joshua. Very impressive! When it sounds THAT good, I bet in the (medium to) long run, you'll deservedly make some $$. Chris

That is the problem with tubes, but if you buy a tube mike you have to be prepared for some headaches.

However, color me impressed on the Stam 67. It's in the realm for me and I could see myself using this for those 67 duties. Hope you get your tube problems resolved soon.

Stam, people interested in an SA67 are probably the kind of people who are aware that NOS tubes can be difficult. Maybe send a new reliable tube with it, just in case.
Three times I’ve compared expensive NOS tubes to JJ’s, and the JJ’s won all three times, blind.

Yeah buying a bunch of NOS tubes for a production microphone strikes me as being moderately insane. I would just offer it as an additional purchase beyond the "stock" tube which to me would be something currently produced. If you run out of NOS stock oh well people can buy it from bowie or wherever else NOS tubes are being sold.

MJB, what JJ tubes were they?
Don't mean to derail the thread, but I'll probably replace my stock MXL M69me tube. Fun, dark toned/"character", vocal microphone. Am looking for more high end definition.
IIRC MXL put NOS tubes, in the Genesis and Revelation. Chris

Not so much in guitar amps but they aren't bad. I still prefer some NOS to the JJ's in audio stuff but they are a good tube. More hifi to my ears.

If you run out of NOS stock oh well people can buy it from bowie or wherever else NOS tubes are being sold. Yea, it's actually to the point that it's not even possible for a company to source enough high quality NOS EF86s for a production run. Too rare and expensive. Some mic makers buy a few NOS pieces from me for custom mics, but these days the only way for a maker to use high end NOS tubes in a production run is to do like Manley and others do, and use tubes that are not in high demand. Some smaller companies have used "NOS" EF86s recently but they are mostly the lower quality types from the 1980s (with country of origin often faked), which are not much different than what's being made today.

I preordered 6 days after Josh announced here. Nothing doing so far. Has anyone from preorder received units? Our email exchange from a few weeks back has gone dark with the ball in his court. I love the products, and I’m patient, and I get it, and I’m not intending to malign him or the brand in any way. Can’t say I’m not beginning to feel frustrated here though.

I love the products, and I’m patient, and I get it, and I’m not intending to malign him or the brand in any way. Can’t say I’m not beginning to feel frustrated here though. I can understand both sides for sure. He seems like a small business owner, like me, manufacturing good stuff but probably without much help as he can't afford it. There are a lot of challenges to such an arrangement. I've been doing it 10 years and sometimes I am at the end of my rope because it seems like the all seeing eye is out to get me.
Then of course on the consumer side, communication seems to be inadequate while projected approximate dates are constantly pushed back leaving you wondering.
It's a tough place to be in. Luckily it seems he makes great products so the payoff is something great at a fraction of the price.
This pie chart comes to mind.
