Hi Guys So I finished testing and I have ordered the parts to built this microphone. It will cost 1.290 USD in stock and 1.090 for those who pre-orders. Customers and people that order during December will only have to pay 990.00 I managed to match the original mic to the point were they sound identical. We are aiming at March shipping, we expect no delays this time as we have already ordered parts before announcing it. Details, video, components and more info can be found here: stamaudio.com/sa67.htmlThanks Joshua

Any chance of a shootout vid with a few real 67’s so we can hear how close it is? Would be great to hear it on piano.

So... the usual PayPal transfer of the downpayment and then the balance upon request before shipping?
P.S. Stop the snowflakes!

I will get some videos done in January Piano, guitars and vocals! Thanks!! Joshua, I've offered before, but if you'll send me one I'd love to demo it and make a video for you. I also may be able to arrange with jeremygillespie to meet up again and put it next to his beautiful U67 and M269. They are mint and sound incredible. I would love to hear just how close your SA67 is. He also has a piano there. Could be fun and this is the microphone that of all your offereings I'm most interested in.

So Joshua, can I lock in that $990 December preorder on the 67? Says $1090 on your site or I'd on your site or I'd do it there. The paypal address again for deposit? I'm in! Thanks.

Can’t wait to take this one for a spin.
After doing shoot outs with a half dozen world-class vintage mics, the U 67 was the most most compatible for me, so this could be a godsend for someone who’s been searching for the best fit for five years now.

Did anybody else get an invoice from Stam today?

Yes I did. It did mention 2nd installment but I had already made 2 x payments already so counting this one for $400 that would make 3 x installments. Stam has said up to another 30 x days before it is released. I did plan on this being late but now that it is getting closer I am getting a little "Ancy". Did you also get the US$500 SA-67 upgrade option email? I just wonder how many people took up that option. What were you thoughts on that upgrade option?

Hey Guys
There are two versions of the SA-67 available. Standard and NOS
The standard has the Heiserman HK-67 capsule, Cinemag transformer and current made EF86 EH tube.
The NOS has the Heiserman HK-67 capsule, AMI BV12 tranformer and NOS EF86 tube. I also added Allen Bradley Carbon resistors.
The differences are small, both options sound very good with the NOS being a tiny bit closer to the U67 sound, but minimal.
The reason for the price difference is due to the AMI BV12 being seven times more expensive and that in order to get one good EF86 NOS tube working without noise I have to buy at least 3 of them. It is also much more work as I need to build, burn for 48 hours and re test again to make sure it will not present noise afterwards while the current ones are good out of the box. The NOS EF86 is also much more expensive.
I would say one get's you 95% there while the other get's you 98% there. Small differences but I know some purist will go for it.
Hope this explains it. Thanks Josh

I didn’t get neither the “first installment” invoice nor the upgrade email.

I didn’t get neither the “first installment” invoice nor the upgrade email. That is because there are only 30 being made in advance from the batch and it was offered to the first 30 that reserved. The rest will be in April Thanks

Jeremy, When I get the SA67, I can come visit you at the studio, and we can do a comparison with the Neumann U67 there. (Jeremy is the senior engineer at the world class Barbershop Studios in New Jersey).
Vincent, you can come by my place to shoot-out the Stam with any of your mics.
I love the AMI transformers. I’ve found them to be the secret ingredient that makes a mic go from good to great. It would be fun to compare the BV-12 version to the Neumann.
I met Oliver Archut at AES. We had talked a few times before on the phone regarding his mics and transformers. After using 3 mics with the BV8 transformer, I tried an “upgraded” version with a Haufe transformer, and I much preferred the Tab Funkenwerk BV8 Oliver had designed.
Some of the differences were detail and articulation. I didn’t have to sing as hard because every little nuance was picked up with greater clarity, so I wasn’t afraid about singing softly because it still cut through the mix without any extra effects and processing .

Did not receive an invoice, so I imagine mine isn’t in the 1st 30. Good to get this update though. Eagerly awaiting the arrival of this fella! Wondering if I should go for the NOS upgrade. Thoughts?

The BV8's I used were wonderful, so I'd expect no less from the BV-12.

I would as it probably adds a little secret sauce presence.
