My colleagues and I made this video comparison of Artur Fisher's BB-D2 Discrete Op-amp DI. We shoot it out against Countryman, API, and my DB Tube Pre.
The guitarist, Will MacMorran, has a cool rig in which the bass E and A strings are processed one octave lower. His Celtic guitar style is quite unique.
Hope you enjoy.

I wouldn't want to spend $315 on a direct box, I'd rather put that toward another preamp. I thought the preamp there sounded the most balanced and revealed detail beautifully, without etching any frequencies, and then I thought the API sounded great.

The preamps do sound very nice, but they're not practical when touring and schlepping gear through airports.

No argument there! Although my little Stam SA73 is about the size of two pedals, and it kicks ass.

I've only used the Countryman, so used it as reference
Preferred the DB Tube DI
